Since a visit to a car wash, I have had a light come on my dashboard. It is on the extreme far left on the board. It looks like a light bulb with an x thru it. It only comes on when I apply the brakes. It doesn't seem to be affecting the driving of the car, but it was never on before the wash. The dash board in my manual doesn't look like the one in my car. What is it and how can I turn it off?

One of the contacts for the turn signal bulbs inside the instrument clusters is loose and may need resoldering. You will need to open up the cluster and check for continuity from the turn signal LED bulbs to the electrical connector plug. In our case, we found an open circuit.
Follow this procedure to troubleshoot this problem.
Remove instrument cluster from the dashboard.
Open the instrument cluster. Remove the back cover from the instrument cluster.
Once the circuit board is exposed inspect the contact where the turn signal sockets are connected to the circuit board. In our case one of the turn signal socket pins was broken and not making contact with the circuit.
you need to find proper bulb type to replace burned one. in general you need t10 or t5 type bulbs.
before removing dashboard, you need to remove battery cable from (-) terminal. removal of dashboards differ from car model to car model. basically there are upper screws and you need to remove dash board bezel/trims first.if you remove bezel and screws, there will be several screws holding dash board in its place. try no to drop screws when removing them. and be gentle while moving the dashboard. there are two or three sockets at back. you may need to remove them by releasing their clips. and you will see bulb holders holding bulbs in dashboard in general 4 or 5 bulbs are used to illuminate gauges. remove them by turning covers and put new bulbs in it. intallation is the reverse order. do not forget to clip sockets back.
I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!
The circuit which supplies power to the dash illuminations is the same relay which supplies power to the parking lights (tail lamp relay). It's inside the I/P (instrument panel/pass compartment) junction box. Check fuse 24 (10 amp - red - far left column, second from the bottom).
These are Dual Function Bulbs. They control the Parking Lights and the Brake Lights. This Bulb is Burnt out on the Brake Coil inside the Bulb. I have actually seen Bulbs that were Bad But you could not Tell by jast looking at them. It should be fine with a New Bulb. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
you can remove the cluster and buy the bulb separate as far as the brake light it is either the float is bad in the master cyl. or you have low frt brake pads
The dash will have to come out for the A/C prob to check the stepper motors and wiring. There are about 6 motors back controling different flaps to control direction of airflow. Once you get the dash out, turn on the car and start working the climate control to see what motors and flap are doing what. Once you see what's happening or not happening, you will know what to do then. about 4 to 5 hrs to take out dash fix prob reinstall dash.
The dash does not have to come for bulbs. For the cluster, you may have to drop the wheel if it does not adjust down far enough to remove the cluster. Drop the lower dash under the wheel, one of the bolts is left hand thread to hold the wheel up, two wery small screw hold the cluster, it slides out. One hour at most; two if no experience doing it.
