Check fuses first. If fuse is blown check wiring diagram for what is on that circuit and unplug things one at a time until it no longer has the problem. Probably intermittent if it is. Call Nissan and check for service bulletins/recalls.

I have a 2010 Nissan altima. My oil light came on. Is this a sign for a major repair or perhaps could it be minor like oil is low?

That really depends on whether it is the "Change oil reminder" indicator or the "Low oil pressure" indicator. If you drive the car without oil pressure, it won't live long. As new as this vehicle is, it is probably low on oil. I check mine once a week when I get gas.The oil should be changed at least every 5000 miles; if yours is low it would be a great time to change it. Less used oil to catch and dispose of.

Why would my 99 Nissan frontier transmission stop pulling when I cut off the over drive off

Your transmission is obviously failing, but it may be something as simple as low fluid level or the need for a standard transmission service. Has the fluid and filter been changed in the past 50,000 miles? If not, START THERE. It may be too late to save the transmission but there is always a chance you may.

Nissan Frontier will not upshift at 6,000 rpms 90 miles a hour and Nissan saying this is normal.. drove another did the same thing. How is this normal what are we to do also sticks as low as 35 mph up to...

It's transmission time,Nissans are known for there transmissions that don't last long, got one, like a tooth ache, gets worst.Dealers don't like doing major work, just oil changes, tire, tuneups, etc.,will tell you something like your a step child.Go to a reputable transmission shop and let them drive or they might know the history of your Frontier,if Daniel Boone was around,he would know, what do you think?

Looking to buy 2004 escalade and on the test drive noticed it wasnt shifting out of 2nd gear well at all. Had to let off throttle to make it shift up. Is this common/ simple fix or major concern?

Hi clinttower,
This is not common but may be a simple fix. I suggest before you purchase it, have it taken your mechanic or dealership of choice and inquire with them on what it may be.
It could be as simple as a transmission flush or more complicated and costly (transmission repair). Also if you can get the carfax or car history report, see if it's been in any accidents previously, never hurts.
P.S. Maybe there's even a recall for a certain sensor by the manufacturer, so give the dealership a call (GM) and explain what's happening and ask if they may be any recalls or TSB (Technical Service Bulletins) concerning this issue.

The car is automatic and ahifys hard into second gear? Any ideas?

Id check the condition and level of your transmission fluid first. If its getting black or smells burnt, change it and also put some transmission additive in it. If its just low, top it up. Dont forget to check it with the engine running in park.

If all else fails, your look at major repairs

Automatic or manual transmission?

Automatic= check your fluid. If its low, add appropriate trans fluid.(check owners manual)

If its not low, last ditch might be to add "Trans X". this is a product which can restore enough life to the belts to operate for a bit more. But usually, this is the first sign of the tranny going out.

If its a manual transmission= game over.
