2001 ford windstar. has a new battery and the alternator tests good. Sometimes when you take your foot off of the gas the battery light comes on. One time it even died when the light came on. Most of the...

Are your battery terminals clean? I took a diesel mechanic course in Fla. back in the 70's. The electrical teacher threatened us that if we had our car in the shop working on it and if the terminals weren't as shiney as his watch band, he'd give us an "F" for the day regardless. I would have fought him over that as they don't have to be that shiney but if they are loose or corroded at the battery or if the negative wire is loose, corroded or frayed at the engine block or if the smaller wires at the positive terminal, (one of them is the primary wire to the alternator output), it doesn't matter how well your alternator checks out, it can't regulate properly if it doesn't have a good connection to the battery at either pole or to the block at negative. Good luck. Jeff M.

On a 98 Ford Windstar 3.0 the solenoid is on the starter. Will it still work if the solenoid is broke free from the start a little bit but is still connected?

50/50 chances but can get a general short that will lead to further worst problem.U can try it out (unmount starter) by wiring to a battery.Worning:schortcircuit may put a car on fire.Tip:if in panic disconect battery terminals (u may use brute force if no tools availabile)or run off the car, explosion hazard.Cheers.

Replacing battery 2003 ford windstar

Remove all guards in the way, unbolt the baterry hold down clamp, remove, then unbolt each battery terminal. replace battery with a fully charged battery of the same type. Clean the terminals good before installing back on the battery. Use thw terminal washers, usually green and red in color, red for the positive post and so on. Rough the posts, smear some battery grease on each post install washers, then battery posts themselves. Tighten both posts just to the point that they will not turn, don't overtighten them they may break, then you'll need new post ends.

2001 ford windstar battery being drained and i dont know why

I had this problem. i thought it was a parasitic drain but...
check your charging system. with the van running, check the voltage output accross the battery terminals. if its less than 14.1 check the inline fuse for the alternator (close to the alternator) if ok, replace the voltage regulator inside the alternator.

if the charging system is putting out 14+ volts then you need to start pulling fuses while van is off while monitoring the current draw between the positive battery post and the positive terminal clamp watching for a current drop. keep in mind the windstar will drain alot of current while off for the first 2 mins er so, then it will drop again in about 15 mins... time delay shutdown on several systems :)

Need to replace number 1 sensor

Hi, it is very easy to change but have go repair shop, first when u get sensor, they have to heat the sensor with gas light that use in welding, the neck right from where it tied the manifold and put small engine oil, then start losing it, and dont forget to remove the battery terminal when doing the work, when it lose then disconect the wire that is connected to the point where it is connected and fix the new one by tieting it firmly to the position and fix back the wire and battery head and start the car u will see that the check engine light is gone
