Question about 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix

Acura Integra 1994 car's temperature gauge goes to "H" on and off

My boyfriend has a 1994 Acura Integra that had its temperature gauge leaning towards "H" so he readily presumed that his car is overheating. When we got to our destination, we chilled for about 2 hours and then he poured a bottle of water in the reservoir (-plastic bottle in the car) prior to us leaving. Since then, his temperature gauge has been normal off and on and back to"H" after we drive about 20=25 minutes,...which also includes going up a steep hill.

Where the antifreeze is suppose to be, the water level went down. At the same time his car is slowly leaking that water he added.

Then yesterday, the radiator was empty, and there were no leaks coming from the rubber hoses.

He does not know what the problem is and has no money to fix the car.

Would you be able to help him and diagnosis this for him?

if there are any other things that we should look at or perhaps "inspect" in order...please advice.

thank you.

I remove the thermostat and I also replaced the coolant temperature sensor, But temp gauge goes all the way up to hot, even when the car is cold at the mornings. Any idea what could it be the problem?

The thing to do is take the cap off the radiator and use a thermometer to see if the gauge in the car is accurate. The thermostat should not be removed. Cars need to have an operating temperature that is high to keep emissions down.

Hello deezeesmeyo
Check fuse# 42 a 20amp fuse in the fuse block located under the hood on the right side of the engine compartment. If the fuse is ok, check the stoplight switch located under the left side of the
dash on the brake peddle bracket. Hope this is helpful.

Yes....Check oil level. Listen for tapping noises from engine....Change oil, have someone put a pressure gauge on engine (a real mechanical one) If pressure is OK, change oil pressure sending unit. If pressure is low, you have a real problem (internal wear) If so, consider a rebuild or replace vehicle.
