Well of course its hard to tell it could be a rod, lifter or it may just need valve clearence or even timing, may not be getting oil to the lifters making them knock if its really bad you will be finding out soon

Is there a lifter adjustment on 3.2 Isuzu motor

this engine uses hydraulic lifters or lash adjusters as honda calls them. if there is noise, you must either perform the tsb from honda 97-076, or replace the lifters. you can check them by removing the valve covers and slightly rock the lifters back and forth to see if there is abnormal movement. there should be slight pressure against the cam lobes at all times.

Here are a few things to look at:
Have you replaced the air filter? Have a compression test done on the engine, could possibly be a leaking vale. If any vacuum hoses have been removed from the engine they will have to be re-installed. Solid Lifters out of adjustment can cause incomplete combustion. Make sure engine is reaching proper operating temperature (eg. thermostat). Do not use low grade (octane) fuel for test.
Clean oil, tire pressure, brake drag?, every little thing counts.

Honda Accord 1994

250,000 miles is a lot, although for a properly maintained Honda it could probably go many more. With any high mileage car purchase, you always run the risk of something happening, major or minor. I would ask the recent history...what has been fixed or replaced in the last 50,000 miles? Also, with any oil leak, there's the chance that it is making a bigger leak, although with a engine with this many miles, thats not uncommon. I would just monitor the oil levels carefully. You don't want the engine to seize.
One last thing, check out www.carsurvey.org. You can look up any make and model and see what real people who own the same car think and what problems they have had.
Good luck in your decision!

How to get the timing belt off a 97 Honda Passport?

Ok this is pretty simple first of all this vehicle has a hydraulic tensioner so will nee to loose the two bolts that holds the hyraulic tenisor and remove tensioner completely and belt will become loose and can be removed. Its recommended that you change this tensioner when you do a timing belt job at about 60,00 miles. However if you choose to re-use tension it can be compressed(pushed back in with a bench vise and can be held in place for installion by a very skinny allen key of a wire type brake clip or something of that sort. Here is a diagram of your timing marks, conatct if you need more help Good Luck and thanks for using
