Well if the heater core is leaking then your coolant is leaking as well, heater cores leak on the inside of your car so your car will get water damage and will smell like antifreeze, so i wouldnt drive it

Yes just use a pair of vise grips to clamp off the coolant inlet hose from the water pump

SOURCE: 1999 dodge durango heater core

It's a big job. Drain the coolant down, recover the freon in the ac system and disconnect the lines and heater hoses. Lower the steering column, remove the instrument panel assembly, remove the heater housing. Split the case halves on the housing and there you are. Usually around 500 to 700 dollars at a dealership.

01 dodge Durango heat isn't blowing hot air

Check hoses to heater core to make sure BOTH are getting hot. If yes, bad blend air door or actuator likely. If no, back flush heater core or replace.

HI. GUYS\r\nI HAVE 99 DURANGO 5.2CI, 4X4.... I HAVE HEATING PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR DRIVING THE HEAT BLOW BETTER & HOTTER, OTHERWISE I STOP AT THE LIGHT IS NOT BLOW HARD. WHAT WRONG ? HEATER CORE?...

Make sure coolant level is ok,check the thermostat and/or replace with a higher temp thermostat that should help unless it is a circulation problem in which case flushing the system may be needed

Smell antifreeze thru heat vents when heater is on in 2000 dodge durango. theres no leaks or drips.

Textbook bad heater core symptom. Might be a blown/leaking heater hose....but I doubt it. My monies are on a bad heater core.

Where is the PCM located on a 99 dodge durango?

The PCM is located on the fender well in the back of the engine compartment close to the firewall. It is a gray rectangle about 7" x 5". It is ribbed. It attaches using three screws.

It is also located close to heater core parts of your truck. If your overheating problem is related to the heater core, it may in fact be causing the PCM to everheat, though I've never heard of it happening before.
