9 out of 10 times it is because the refrigerant is low. This means you have a leak and it needs topped up or repaired. It could be a slow leak which can be repaired with a sealant ($250) or if it is a big leak..it will need to be repaired in a garage (roughly $900 and up). If it just started I would say it is a slow leak because it is a 2006, find a A/C guy that does Residential A/C and he will probably be able to help you for $250 (or less) cash - the sealant, refrigerant top up and labor. And remember to get a phone number for the guy in case it needs to be done a couple of years from now. I did this sealant to about 200 cars (1990's to 2007) and have had only 75 needed to be done every 3 years. Hope this helps.

Your A/C probably needs re-gassed, pressurised gas is pumped into a reservoir on your car, it has to be topped up every now and then, and if your pump is working, and its hotair, then this is usually a sign of the reservoir being empty

Ac intermittently quits working, just replaced condenser, put dye in system at mechanics- no leaks

Have an AC repair shop hook up a set of AC pressure gauges while this is happening to see what is going on. You could have a defective AC compressor or a low refrigerant charge in the system. And as to the hot weather causing it to act up that would be normal, the AC would cool fine the cooler the outside air is, problems like worn out compressors and low system refrigerant charge levels would only show there ugly head in hot weather conditions. Also make sure the cooling fans fo rthe AC and engine are working properly. Good luck with this.

03 suburban ac problem

Put a new belt on it and spray the condenser coil in front of the radiator with a hose when it gets up to temp or the sound starts and see if it stops. Thats what I did today. Flapping/clacking stops for about 10 minutes until thing get hot again.A/C blowing cold air the entire time.

Air conditioning compressor is disconnected and waiting for a rebuilt on , today at a stop light car was idleing and water gauge went to hot and some smoke came out, let car cool and got it home it wa

You need to get coolant level checked first thing, and topped up as necessary to start with, then have to see what goes on with the temperature from there. Don't let it get all the way over to hot again, if you can help it. That can be costly. If at all possible, pull over & shut it off, but I suggest having that looked at before you go anywhere.
