Question about 1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Open Question

My car starts and runs for a few seconds and turns off

This sounds like an antitheft immobiliser but as I have just bought the car second-hand (from a finance company not a dealer) I cannot find any reference to follow???

How can you bypass an antitheft system on a 2002 tdi jetta?

If it is not a new key fob, it sounds to me like the immobilizer is activated. So, all the lights on the dash are working now? Is there a flashing key on the dash lights? One of the resets that works is put the key fob in, and turn ignition on without starting it, and leave it 15 minutes. And try again.

Have you tested the ASD relay ? Most anti-theft systems will not let you crank or start the engine at all. If it starts for a few seconds, you are loosing spark or fuel.

Computer shut down fuel system reset

Hi, Sounds like the immobiliser isn't de-activating. The system will prime when the ignition is turned on and the car will start but then the immobiliser will cut the fuel after 2-3 seconds. Are there any warning lights or led lights staying on. If you have a spare key and haven't tried it then start there first. If you do and neither key works then it could be a number of things including the pick up ring around the ignition barrel but you would need to get the car checked out proffesionally before you start replacing parts. Good luck, Jon.

Ford focus 2001 just cut out and now wont start

If the car turns over really fast then it could be the timing belt, Does your car have an immobiliser? with it starting and running for a few seconds it sounds like an issue with the key not communicating with the car.

My 2003 chevy cavaliel will start but the dies after a few secons what could cause this

I do know that when your antitheft system fails, you will get exactly what you have. Turn key, starts for 1-5 seconds, then stalls. This will be followed by a light illuminating on your dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. If you see this light, go to this link for help.
