    I checked the fuses in the power distribution box, the 20 amp fuse for the 4X4 seems to be fine. I still get no lights on the buttons on the dash and when I push them nothing happens. What else can it be?

    I checked the power distribution box (looks a little different then your picture) Not seeing any relays and I checked all the fuses and all are fine. Can there be another fuse box besides the power distribution box that I am missing?

    I have a 1992 ford explorer and the 4x4 is not working. The button the dash does nothing. I checked the fuse in the power distribution box and nothing seems to be burnt out. What else can it be?

    Would that be the reason why the display on the dashboard doesn't light up either?

    Very helpful, thank you very much. Hopefully I will be able to fix it.

There is possibility that the 4x4 shift motor on the back of the transfer case has failed. A Chilton manual at the auto-part store should show you how to properly remove and test the shift motor.

Have you checked all your fuses? The 'shift solenoid' may have blown a fuse. Check there first.

Tires for 92 bucik regal

If you have 15" mags, you will need 15" tires.
The way tire sizes work is as follows:
  • The first number (205) is the TREAD WIDTH in millimeters;
  • The second number (70) is the percentage of the specified tread width the measurement between the tread and the wheel is (which means that the distance between the tread and the wheel is 143.5mm).
  • The third number, 15, is the rim diameter in INCHES.
Do a little math and you can figure out the proper size tire for your vehicle with the after-market wheels you are using.

Wrong time of year to be diagnosing tranfer issues
you do that in warm weather

May be related to the front axle engagement due to the cold

My 97 explorer has a vibration in the frontend like its in 4x drive but i can feel it engage and disengage

Does dash indicate whether it's in 2 wheel, 4 hi,or 4 low?It sounds like it might be in 4 wheel low.With the car running in Park, try turning dash knob from 2 wheel to 4 wheel low and then back to 2 wheel..now depress the brake pedal. Instructions to to do this are usually on the driver's side sun visor.
