Question about 1979 Lincoln Mark V

I hooked up my battery wrong on my Lincoln Mark V and now, of course, I do not have any electrical power. What do I do to fix it?

IF no click click click.. starter cylenoide located next too battery first than probably the altranater and garenteed voltage regulator

There may be a "fusible link" there where the positive cable bolts onto the solenoid, if you are LUCKY, it just melted one of these. you may just "feel"them and tell or take a test light and see if you have power where they end (a few inches down from where they are connected to the solenoid)

Follow your (+) positive cable to the starter. You should find it somewhere along the line. If not try using a different battery.

I changed my suspension to coil spring now my abs light is on and cant turn on trac tion controll. i left height adjusters hooked up but disconnected air solinoid then tried hooking up air solinoid...

Retrieve the codes you have ,that set the Malfunction Indicator
Lamp for the ABS

Diagnose from the code

May be a bad Wheel Speed Sensor ,nothing related
to what you changed

You will see the wiring going to each speed sensor behind
each of your 4 wheel hubs

Where is the fuel pump relay on a 89 lincoln mark 7?

Broken Engine Mount. Get someone to look under it as you shift from forward to reverse with the brake on of course to see exactly what one is broken.

Any known electrical problems with '97 Lincoln Town Cars? This one is in mint condition, however, over the course of several months there's no juice in the new battery. Dealership say's there's nothing...

look for pennies in l= cigar lighter socket unplug battery over night and see if it still holds a charge
trunk light could stay on check each fuse with a test light with key off only ones with power should be the ones that you do not need a key

I Have a 1990 Lincoln mark vii, the headlights wont come on sometimes and i had to hook a wire from one of the headlights to the negative battery post to have control of them in the car with the light...

either your light switch is burned up,(which very common on fords)or your dimmer switch is bad might check your body grounds also to eliminate that possibility.hope you getter fixed up..

Electrical problem

This is going to be a loose ground. Since the problem occured after a heater core replacement I would check the ones there. Pull the kick panels off of both sides and make sure the grounds are hooked up and tight. They will have bolt thru connectors on the end of the wires.Also look at the center brace area under the dash sometimes they have them there too.

you need to RE-Ground the Dashboard. Find a Nice Think piece of steel to mount a 12 gauge wire and find a spot "Maybe the Bolts to the Steering Column" or another Good Body ground..

Everytime you hit bumps OR shake the dash you are losing the Ground to your dash, Ford Loves to Ground to Dash and then use a Cheap ground.

97 Lincoln Mark VIII / Something killing the battery

If the alternator you installed was rebuilt, it may not have been right from the beginning.
There are high powered diodes used in them to rectify the alternating voltage produced to supply the DC the car needs.
These can fail quickly and without warning.
It is possible that a defective battery could cause this failure so a shorted battery could have caused both the original and replacement alternator to fail.
If you are in the US, you can visit about any of the chain auto parts stores and they will test your alternator free of charge but call first to check if your local store offers this.

If the regulator for the alternator is separate; some are, some aren't, this should also be tested if separate and is not that costly to replace.
