You may have an air lock in the cooling system, with the radiator cool remove the cap, start the car with the heater on high, let it reach operating temp, fill with water antifreeze \

Thermostat housing cooling radiator


probably either the intake manifold gasket, or a head gasket has failed allowing cylinder compression to escape into the cooling system and boiling the coolant. also look for milky oil(water in the crankcase), or for oil in the coolant system(rainbow sheen on top of coolant in the radiator, or overflow reservoir).

OVERFLOW IS BOILING


If the thermostat is not opening, the engine will keep getting hotter as you drive. You could be low on coolant and have air pockets in the system which would cause the temp gauge to not be accurate. Is the radiator fan coming on when the tank is boiling ?

My 2000 chevy impala has been overheating for 2 years now. I have tried everthing. First i had a raditior flush even though there is a sticker saying no maintainece is required for 100,000 miles well it...


is your electric fan working? Is it turning on when you turn the air on? If you have 2 fans on the radiator, is the other one turning on when engine starts to get hot? You seemed to have replaced everything else outside of a new engine block. Just make sure your fans are working properly.

Temp gauge goes up and down


first i would purchase a new radiator cap 15 lbs 16 lb capacity cost about $7..then you must let car cool completely...now check radiator coolant level.. top off if it needs it. Now install new cap..let car warm up normally and after it get to normal temp range or higher put hand on upper radiator hose..it should feel hot and when you squeeze it you should feel a slight back pressure..this will mean that the thermostat and water pump are working correctly. if not either the thermostat you purchased is defective or your pump may not be working properly.
when you use just water in an engine the boiling point becomes 212 when you add the correct amount of antifreeze, depending on where you live, the boiling point will go up to 240 degrees. Make sure you put in the correct amount of mix.50/50 will usually work well. sometimes when a gauge does max out like that it could just be trapped air. if after you checked all this out and no air is trapped in the system, i would think that you may have a bad temp sensor. let me know if this helped thanks.

My temperature gage is going over in the red and my heat is not


Check the sensor which controls the cooling fans that cools the radiator it prevents the engine from over heating and allows the temp gauge to stay at normal range.recently had problems with my 2003 impala overheating it was the sensor had the thermostat replace as well.

Intermitant temperature


Check to make sure your thermostat works right by monitoring the warming up of your engine. With a completely cold engine, start and run the engine for a few minutes, then put your hand on the top radiator hose to monitor if and when it gets warm as the thermostat opens more and more and note the gauge reading( if it works) the top radiator hose should be unbearably hot within 5-8 minutes. If the therm. opens right it should close right aswell, staying open a little while eventhough the radiator may have cooled may be what you are experiencing causing the rapid cooling and is nothing to worry about. The Hose should not get warm very soon after starting the engine. Regarding you gauge, lets take one step at a time, verify proper op. or the therm.

2002 Montero limited overheats can't find problem.


Sounds like the thermastat is stuck closed. The water in the engine would get very hot while the radiator remains cool.Don't drive the car this way as serious engine damage will occur.

Intermitant jerking & radiator fluid boiling


My jeep has had the same jerking problem for about 3 months. And last week it started boiling in the over flow jug. But never went over 220 on the temp gauge. 3 days latter it just died driving down the road and started smoking under the hood. It was way over heated . And would not start back up after cooled off. Come to find out it blew the head gasket.
