Question about 2004 Toyota Sienna

1 Answer

I recently had an a/c belt break on my 2000 Sienna Van.It was replaced and the new belt continues to squeal. It has been adjusted several times and then replaced but squealing continues. I have discovered that the squealing does not occur when the rear a/c is running, just the front unit. I have stumped my shade tree mechanic. - Any advice will be appreciated. Sandra

Get away from the shade tree. have your a/c pressures checked. the compressor may be on its way out. make sure the cooling fan or fans are working. did you use a quality belt, or some cheap brand from otto zown? if the rear a/c is running but not the front, the a/c compressor is not engaged, thats why is doesnt squeal.

Power steering doesnt work well when cold

Squealing means the PS belt is loose or frayed. Replace the belt and adjust the tension correctly. The "bouncing" is caused by the PS pump starting and stopping because the belt is loose.

Makes a squealing noise when i start it sometimes and sometimes while i am driving it it does too, it is a 2000 toyota sienna

a squealing sound on start up and/or while driving is most likely that your serpentine belt is worn out. usually a simple easy fix.

Toyota Sienna 2000 Mini-van. The driver's side power window.

I have the same problem with my 2000 Sienna.Probably window motor will need replacement. Frustrating. Turns out I have a lot of the same wear and tear issues with my Sienna as others. Automatic door sticks open or continually pops open, snapped rear hatch, tire pressure sensor always on. C'mon Toyota, I hope your newer models are more robust. FYI we take VERY good care of our van.

2006 Dodge Gr. Caravan. Loud humming noise upon

Misalignment of the belt, incorrect belt, worn or loose tensioner, Too tight of an adjustment (many service centers do this on purpose so when the belt breaks in it becomes properly adjusted, I do not believe in this philosophy), The belt is actually one long belt called a serpentine belt.....

It just squeals when i start the van when its cold and also smells like something is burning

Hello.

The way you describe it, it sounds to me like you have a slipping serpentine belt. I would recommend that you check the tension of the belt. If the belt is worn, a replacement would be advised.

When starting our 2005 Toyota Sienna with the air conditioner on the belts squeal, how do I fix this problem? How difficult is it to change the belt?

There should be an idler pulley nearby to your aircon compressor, with an adjusting bolt to tighten your belt. If the belt is tight and still squeals, there are allsorts of weird and wonderfull things that are applied to them to stop squealing. Vaseline won't hurt the rubber but it will stop the squealing...hope this helps.

When should you replace timing belt on Toyota Sienna van? It's a 1999 model with 210,000 kms on it and I need a new water pump. Should I replace the timing belt at the same time?

Somewhere between 90,000 mil;es and 120,000 miles you should do your timing belt. But first make sure you do not have a timg chain. If you have a timing chain, you never have to change it at all.

My van makes a squealing sound

You have 2 Serpentine belts on the left side (looking from the front) of your vehicle, these wear over time and become stretched and loose, replace BOTH as it could be either of them and when one is worn,,, the other will not be far behind. Belts are not expensive the top is pretty easy to do, the bottom which drives the power steering pump you have to remove a plastic panel in the front left(looking at the vehicle) wheel well. good luck:)

You will have to adjust the tension of the belt by adjusting the pressure of the altenator. Or buy new belt

Squealing sound every time I start my van

you need to adjust the alternator belt, do adjustment a little bit tightening a bit. this will solve the problem. Or just change a new belt if the belt has crack.
