Question about 1996 GMC Suburban

3 Answers

Won't start. I have change the wires, spark plugs, cover and rotator and it won't start. I am ready to burn the them truck. Sometimes I don't touch it for a week and when I tried it it's start right away. I just don't know anymore. The scanner does not give me any code. I don't know if perhaps is a sensor or maybe something inside. The truck has 145,000 miles and has being kept well.

Do you have spark?
Put one of the old plugs in a spark plug wire and crank her over.
Make sure the plug is grounded.
Any spark?
Most likely the ignition module.
Next would be the crank sensor.......or dist pickup.

Yes to spark?
Put a little gas down the throttle body.......and see if it starts on that.

Yes to a start then dies out?
No fuel.
Most likely the fuel pump in the tank.
Turn the key off for at least 10 seconds.
Have someone listen closely at the tank........now turn the key only to run position....you should hear a prime cycle whirrrrr for about 1 or 2 seconds.
No noise? means....no working pump.
Check all fuses........but it will most likely be first....fuel pump.....second....fuel pump relay....third....no power to the fuel system.
Yes to whirrrr.........then it's ......no fuel injectors are opening if you have fuel injection.

You need to find out why it wont run. throwing parts on it isnt going to fix anything. the first thing to do is listen close when you turn the key on, do you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds and then turn off? this truck has to have 58-62psi fuel pressure, period, if it has 55psi it will not run. ck at a spark plug if it has spark when the engine is turning over, if it does, then you have a fuel problem, if it doesnt have spark, then ck that route. thats the big fork in the road SPARK or FUEL, that will lead you to the FIX.

Have you checked fuel pressure? If that has the engine i believe it does, it has poppet type injectors which requires a minimum fuel pressure of i think 53psi (? check the service manual to double check) If it's lower it won't open the injectors causing a no start condition. Likely needs a pump.

TDC is after the number one piston comes up on the compression stroke. So if you take the valve cover off, you should be able to watch the intake valve and tell where the cam timing is as the piston comes up. Keep in mind if cam timing is off you won't have much if any compression on most cylinders.

Where are the components located on a 1994 E320 Mercedes Sedan?

don\'t understand: cranks fast enough (battery low??) or crank at all??. Need more detail(s);if it cranks at all but slow, you won\'t get a spark;don\'t touch the end of the spark plug wire \'cause it\'d make your butt pucker if/when you get spark!!! honestly.

Truck stalled wouldn't start.

I can understand you being frustrated.
There really is no way to tell if the fuel pump was the problem at this point.
If the security system fails, you should see "security" light up on the cluster.
The key lock has a sensor that reads the chip in the key. If the sensor fails or the chip fails the computer won't let the vehicle start.
Most of the time when the security system is at fault, the vehicle won't start, but it won't cause the engine to stall.
You might want to have someone check the fuel pressure and spark at the plugs if you don't see the security light on the cluster.
Could be the fuel pump relay and a list of other things.
I would probably check the computer for trouble codes too.

1999 chevy k2500. changed spark plugs 4 times in 7 months. Runs good for a week then doesn't start. Changed spider, throttle body sensor. Still has no codes and once again won't start.

The next time it won't start ,pull a sparkplug wire and see if you're getting fire. Then we'll known whether its a ignition or fuel problem and go from there.

I have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier that I can not figure out why it won't start. The following list of parts are brand new: Battery, PCM, Park Neutral Safety Switch, Alternator, Ignition Switch, and finally...

Your car has a sealed transmission, in order to check it you have to go to the dealer or a transmission

shop, its not owner servicable. takes dextron vi, 4 speed 7.4 quarts, 3 speed 4quarts

And as far as the no start, are your plugs getting voltage, if not check your coil, if there is no spark

to your plugs the car will not fire up. good luck!

I have compression, gas and air to the combustion chamber, just no spark why won't it start?

If you don't have spark then that is your problem. First try changing the spark plugs and wires. If that doesn't fix it then it is the ignition system. Let me know if the first two don't fix it.
