The heat shields that are on the plug wires do come off with the wires.

Have the spark plug wiries been changed? Do that and make sure you clip the wires back into the loom holders, replace any broken loom brackets.

Talk about a bad misfire.think of this, there use to be just spark plug now there is only sparkplug boot. on the sparkplug boot there is a heat shield and that heat shield job was to protect the boot well it now opposite so this is what it is doing ,Its grounding it out causing you these headache, tune it up replace the wire, and throw out the sheilds,(the ones on the sparkplug wire that is), and this will put you on the road

I have a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 with a 4800 vortec engine. it starts and idels fine but when ever i give it gas, the engine starts to sputter and dies. ive already changed the fuel filter and spark plug...

This sounds llike weak feul pressure, the fuelpump may need replacing, the first thing to do is have the fuel pressure tested and if the pressure is low then have the pump replaced. the pump is located inside the fuel tank and the tank will need to be dropped to replace the pump, good luck ,

2001 chevy silverado 1500 4.3 v6. new fuel pump, new cats, plugs wires roater and distributer cap. shuts off after driving for a little bit gives no sign or warning. cant figure it out help please!!!

Start off by taking a spark plug out when it shuts down. If it is dry and a light tannish color, then you have a gas problem. If it is wet and dark colored, then you have a spark problem. Let me know what you find out.

1994 chevy silverado shuts off while driving i can pull over and restart this has happened twice in 3 weeks

If it were only simple. It sounds like an ignition module. They can act up with heat, and are located under your distibutor cap, or if you have coil packs, it's the plate under them. You might try to see what is going away, as in spark or fuel when it dies. Carry a spark tester, if it dies, throw it on a plug wire and ground it quick and turn it over to look for spark. (Or have someone watch)

01 Chevy Silverado 4 X 4 not working. 4WD light

Having the same exact problem but with my 1999 escalade. Thought it was the actuator bought a new one installed it transfer case would engage but front end wouldnt lock. Took it out of housing left it plugged in got a friend to go through all the 4wd for me and the plunger never moved out the actuator. Checked my wiring harness which is a four prong ann it had one hot prong like it is suppose to. Traced wires even replaced dash switch same problem. Taking it to local dealership tom to have it checked for codes. I was told it could be the transfercase actuator even though its workin that actuator is what sends power to the front to engage the actuator to lock the differential.
