What do you mean "wont start" do you mean it turns over and wont start, or wont turn over?? belts dont just break, if the car wont turnover, take the belt off and manually spin every pulley with your hand, all should spin freely (except the large bottom crank pulley) you may find that one of them is siezed.

My audi a5 wont run it starts and cuts out since i fitted a new serpentine belt

How long does it run? Sure you only changed the serpentine belt? The car would actual even run without the serpentine (or also called accessory belt) since the belt only drives fairly non essential components (AC compressor, alternator, fan, power steering pump. etc).

My timing belt broke can the serpentine belt cause that to happen

No. But on another note on some cars depending on the age of them. The serpentine belt acts as a timing belt and if this is the case with your car be careful. Some of these cars can end up with severe engine damage if you try to start the car without the timing belt. So if you only have one belt on the system do NOT try to start your car. Off to the repair shop it goes so they can line up the timing again, and replace the belt.

Replaced the serpentine belt but now car won't start

A serpentine belt almost never breaks unless one thing happens---one of the accessories seizes and won't turn.Remove the belt and see which pulley won't turn. The serpentine belt is strong enough to keep the engine from cranking up(better grip on the pulleys compared to the old V-belts).I actually remember a tech 3 stalls down from me sell a customer an engine, only to find the alternator was just seized.(embarassing!)Any one accessory bearing will keep it from cranking up,and I'm sure you'll find it quickly after removing the belt.

2000 chevy prizm won't turn over

Is it possible the broken belt damaged the crank or cam sensor ?
I can't see a way for the serpentine belt damaging the camshaft.
Was the engine running after the belt broke ?
Have you checked the computer for trouble codes ?

Serpentine belt broke..replaced the belt and the battery but wont start..will turn over but not start..sounds like it is free spinning..could possibly be the timing belt

the timing belt is scheduled for replacement at 60K miles, but I dont know why the serpentine belt would break? see if the cam is turning, maybe peek in where you add oil.

My van won't start. The serpintine belt broke and I replaced it. It is installed correctly but the engine won't turn over. It trys to start but won't. Any suggestions?

How long did you run the engine after the belt broke? Does it sound like dead battery? The alternator quit when the belt broke, the car will run for maybe 20 mins without it, I would say you wore down the battery, get it charged back up and see what happens. There is nothing else that will make your car not start that is attached to the serpentine belt.
