USE GEAR OIL!!!!! NO ENGINE OIL!! ENGINE OIL BAD FOR TRANSMISSION. There is a reason for so many different types of oils, and making money off of suckers isn't one of them.

Please follow the experts recommendation . In Automatic transmissions are not using thick oils. Only special and manufacturers recommended oils are used. If you will not change it you will come surely to an unexpected and not worthy situation. Proceed as you been told . Renew the oil and filter and I again inform you to use the specified oil from manufacturer and nothing else. Also it is better to put into your automatic gear box if you can find the " Wynn's Automatic Transmission Treatment. "It will help a lot.

My 1999 nissan maxima 5 speed won't shift from 1st to second gear.

If it goes into other gears correctly, then the issue is likely a synchromesh problem with that particular gear, and the gearbox may have to be stripped.
You may try changing the gear oil first though, as this can often fix the issue without having to spend too much money on unnecessary repairs.

Which transmission oil do I add to my 95 Niissan maxima V6.

You did not say if automatic or manual.
I would guess DextronII if automatic, and 80w-90 hypoid gear oil if manual.

Maxima wont come out of 1st gear

Is it automatic or manual? And you have to pull the transmission pan not the motor oil pan. I'm not saying you did, but just letting you know. Tell me if you find anything. Mike.

I cant locate the transmission dipstick on my 2000 Maxima SE

Unless you are having trouble with the transmission, it is not generally required to check the gear oil level in a manual transmission until at least 100,000 miles. However, if you feel keen about, look at the trasmission and locate a plug on the side, part way up. Remove the plug, and stick your finger into the hole. The oil should be right at the bottom of the hole.

2003 Nissan Maxima Transmission Issue

Electronic throttle assembly failure, which has throttle position sensor built into it, that is a sensor for the transmission and tells the computer where the throttle is to adjust/shift if needed. I would look into the throttle assembly.
