Question about 1994 Pontiac Grand Am
Timing cover and back plate need to come off along with both cam boxes, manifolds and front top engine support. You definitely need to get a haynes or chiltons manual to do this repair as there are specific cam settings that need to be exactly followed or the engine will trash itself on startup.. It's way too long to write out here and the manuals are only about $20...Make sure you use new cylinder head bolts. Top gasket set is about $250 + bolts.

That is not a job that you could do without special tools, the timing chain is a real SOB unless you have tools and a service manual. I would recommend a repair shop, these are famous for head problems, so dont be surprised if its cracked.
