Got a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 with the 2.4 engine with Weber.Have them test the alternator after you take it off, also check your fusible links and your positive battery cable connected to starter and the negative battery cable that is grounded to engine. My truck has a volt meter telling me what the system is doing which normal is 14.5 volts while running, battery should read about 12.6 when not running, could also be that your alternator belt is loose, maybe change that while your at it.You can crank engine up,have hood open, rev engine up and watch belts turn to make sure they are not loose.I f you need,I can send you a free repair guide on your Nissan. Here's mine. 85 Nissan 720 4x4 Silverbullet 4 with Samantha YORKIE at the wheel look out

How long did the 2nd alt. last before it died? The voltage regulator is, I believe, attached to the alternator. Have u had the voltage regulator checked?

Hi. this is defiantly a slow or major drain that is occurring within this vehicle. Here is a test that you can preform that will help you find this battery drain so you can illuminate this issue.
--BATTERY DRAINAGE TEST PROCEDURE--
Using a 12-volt test light, hook one end to the negative battery post the other end to the negative battery cable you just disconnected. The test light will glow or "light" if there is a drain. If the "light or glow" is faint, that is probably normal draw for the clock or computer. If the "light or glow" is bright, then there is a large drain. That should be corrected. Now start removing and replacing the fuses one by one until the light goes out; that one will be the circuit with the drain. Remember to hold in the button in the door jam for the interior lights.
Please rate and god bless:)

I am assuming that when you say no alt light on dash , you mean that when you first turn key on for the bulb check it won't light. i f this is true then I would be looking at replacing the bulb first. most car's use the bulb in the dash as part of the excitment circut to get the alt to start charging.

Well I had the same problem and my battery went dead a couple days later. At the auto parts store, the guy hooked up a voltmeter and "tested" my alternator. Said I'm only getting 11.5 to 12 volts with engine running therefore alternator is bad. I bought a new one appx. $150 plus $63 core deposit. Went home changed it out, car started but brake and battery lights still on. Took old alternator back to Checker (now O'Riley) and had them bench test which it passed. They wouldn't take back the new one because it was already installed. Was going crazy trying to find the problem. Check all the wiring using Ohms, cleaned up all the grounds, even bought a new bulb check relay because it's on the same circuit. Well nothing worked. The next day decided to check wiring again because can't be anything else. I found a bulge underneath a bunch of black tape in an area over by where the battery sits. Decided to unravel it and low and behold the wire inside had completely corroded in half. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm guessing the previous owner somehow got a nick in the wire and just taped it up. Well water got in over the two years I've driven it and lately it's been raining a lot and high humidity and it finally went. Moral of the story, check and double check the wiring. This was the white wire from the alternator back to the battery and it was double wrapped in tape and tubing. Aloha
