Steering wheel is locked as are the brakes. Key doesn't seem to be going all the way in either.

Very likely the steering thrust stored in the tires attempting to turn back is forcing excessive tension against the steering lock.
Try (very hard) to turn the steering wheel either direction while turning the key gently.
If that solves it you can avoid this by letting go of the steering after stopping to park, turn off the ignition slowly (engine off, pause, then key out). This will ensure that the steering wheel comes to rest prior to locking the column.

Make sure to push the brake firmly with you foot. I do this all the time.

Try to pull the steering wheel really hard to the left and right while trying to swith on the ignition at the same time usually that will free it up and go back to normal Good luck! Ed

Try graphite...you can buy it powdered but it is also what makes up a pencil's 'lead'. You need to squish some in between the key and the lock it's in. Then wiggle the key as much as you can to work the graphite in (not too hard or the key will break!). If the problem is a stuck tumbler the graphite will unstick it.

the key may be worn badly or the ignition needs to be replaced.
