Water pump failed. Car overheated. Engine lost power. Car smoke out from back of engine and from rear of car. I replaced water pump. Car still smokes when I drive it. Still has no power.

Notorious for intake leaks, the composite plastic intakes crack and leak coolant-as to the lack of power, you mght have overheated it and done some damage to the engine. There was a recall (information below) for the 4.6 for the intake-the overheating and lack of power means you should at least have compression checked and go from there-you may have bad head gaskets or worse. Do a compression test before you do anything else.

Ford Motor Company will extend the recall (01M02) on 4.6L V8 equipped vehicles with plastic intake manifolds. Some of the composite intake manifolds used on 4.6L SOHC engines may develop fatigue cracks at the coolant crossover duct. This condition could result in engine coolant leakage which, if not serviced, may cause engine overheating. Complete loss of coolant may result in engine damage or engine failure.
The updated recall now includes:
• Certain 1996 through 2001 Model Year Crown Victoria Police Interceptor
• Certain 1998 through 2001 Model Year Crown Victoria with Taxi
• Certain 1998 through 2001 Lincoln Town Car Limousine and Livery Prep Package
• Certain 1996-2001 Crown Victoria Taxis, Police cars and Lincoln Town Car Limousine and Livery cars.
• Certain 1996 through 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant from the beginning of production for the 1996 Model Year through January 28, 1997.
• Certain 1998 through 2001 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant from November 22, 1997 through December 15, 2000.
• Certain 1998 through 2001 Crown Victoria Taxi Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant from November 22, 1997 through December 15, 2000.
• Certain 1998 through 2001 Lincoln Town Car Limousine Prep Package and Livery Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the Wixom Assembly Plant from November 22, 1997 through December 15, 2000.

I had 3 coils recently replaced on my 2005 v6 Lincoln LS now it just dies randomly and the wrench lite comes on . If I wait 30 seconds it starts and runs fine for several days then does it again . Got any...

Hi, I believe I have an answer. I had the same problem; oil leaking onto the coils and spark plugs. My local Ford dealer is fixing my car for free because this problem falls under a warranty. Your car has to be the year of the recall. I found out about it accidentally on the internet looking for answers about the coils and my car stalling. But anyways it's all about the oil leaking in somehow, and usually it's from the valve covers being made of cheap material. Mine are being replaced along with 2 coils, 6 boot covers and 6 new spark plugs. Talk to a dealer, and be tough. You have every right to this recall if it covers your car.

I have a 03 lincoln ls.it has new plugs, complete tune up..the car runs good exept for when i stop at the light..if im at the light too long it starts shaking and goes in failsafe mode.before this staqrted...

Put a code reader or scanner on it. Sounds like a Throttle Position Sensor or Bad Coil. The TPS is avail on line or at auto parts. You DO NOT have to replace the entire throttle body, if sensor fails. Coils are $51.00 or maybe less on line.

Just purchase a 2004 lincoln aviator and notice it has a crack on the rear hatch. Can i get a lincoln dealership to repair it as a recall

Probably not as the original warranty is out of date. Usually anything covered bumper to bumper is only 3yrs/36,000 miles wcf.

My 06 lincoln navigator liftgate is ajar and wiggly...we can not get it open or closed....what now?

Check with the dealer. For a short while there was a recall on the rear window liftgate.

If you are talking about the entire metal back door, thats a bigger problem.

Either way, your 2006 Lincoln has a long warranty and may be covered.

While slowing down, 08 Lincoln MKZ, car jolts slightly. Very tough to duplicate but it happens frequently

Absolutely take it to the Lincoln dealer. You have a longer warranty with a Lincoln, Lincoln loaners with appointment. Chances are Customer concerns are mounting and the dealer will check for Technical service bulletins.

It sounds like the downshift in the transmission is rough. These are computer controlled and they may be able to plug your car into a computer and reprogram it to the newest standard.

2004 Lincoln Aviator Crack in Lift Gate

Take it to a Lincoln dealer. The Lincoln body has a longer warranty than most cars. Your liftgate may not be made of metal, but the through and through failure warranty from Rust could be questionable enough to cover it.

We had a new door and trunklid warranteed after 5 years on our Mark 7. Plus they painted the entire car.
