1994 jeep grand cherokee 5.2l turns over bit will not start. Recently had the ignition switch replaced. Was able to start engine with starting fluid prior to replacing Ign swc. Any ideas on how to get it started so that I can get it to a mechanic?

If you can fix it so it starts likely you won't need need to find out what's missing...fuel/spark and go from there. If ignition switch wasjust replaced, make sure it's plugged in well.

You have a bad fuel pump, not ignition switch.

No spark on 1994 jeep grand cherokee /wont start

If the check engine light does NOT light up on the dash when you turn on the ignition, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what controls that. It's likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem typical of early 90's jeeps. Repair or replacement services for your jeep ECU are available on ebay.

My 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2L is very difficult to start if it has not been run in the previous 6 hours. Replaced ignition coil but didn't solve the problem. After sitting overnight it

Low fuel pressure.
You need to check the fuel pressure on the first crank and watch it as it is running.
Requires a special gauge.
If it were just a starting problem I would say it could be a pump relay, but not if it runs rough for 5 min.
Might be a dirty filter or problem in the tank.

I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 4.7 engine. I have a problem with starting the car. Most times it will start fine and then out of the blue it won't start. All it does is click. If I try...

First thing to try is clean the battery cable connections, and make sure they are tight. Sometimes, if they are a little bit loose, or dirty, it won't make good enough connection to turn the starter. If that doesn't solve it, the connection to the starter, or ground to the engine may be loose or dirty, or your ignition switch may need to be replaced. Good luck. I hope this helps you.

I am driving down the road and for no reason the engine stalls

Hi BigJoe,

Have you had any issues with your keys/ignition?

I have a Cherokee and a Wrangler. The Cherokee's ignition switch started getting flaky a while back. Sort of doing what you describe.

On mine, engine would die, dash lights out, like the ignition was turned off.

I'd give the tilt a bang and everything was back to normal. I got a replacement at a junk yard for $5.00.

The key symptom is, do the dash lights go out when the engine dies?

If not, disregard.

Replace governor switch on 1994 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0

Governor switch? Never saw one on a Jeep! The only governor in your vehicle is inside the transmission and non-servicable without teardown. Slipping is a product of low pressure usually due to internal wear and seal failure. Do a trans fluid change. If the fluid is very black and there is a substantial amount of debris inside pan and on filter, it may be a lost cause. To buy a bit more time, the only additive I've ever had any luck with is made by lucas oil products. Follow directions on bottle. If it works better after that, Change again in about 2 weeks. If not, start saving up for a new unit!!
Good luck
