Question about GMC Sierra 2500HD

1 Answer

Hi folks, my problem is this: When I drive between 115-125 km/hr (approx. 65-75mph), my speedometer jumps around like crazy. The cruise control quits, the transmission unlocks the torque converter, and check engine, abs, and parking brake lights come on. If I get up past 125 km/hr, the speedo quits jumping and reads right. Slowing down from, say, 140 km/hr (80mph) it jumps around again through that same speed. I have replaced the speed sensor in the transfer case and it's changed nothing. Any clues?

How do i set the cruise control on my 1994 mercedes c220 elegance automatic

Cruise Control
Any given speed above approximately 22 mph (35 km/h) can be maintained with the cruise control by operating the lever.
-see photo

  1. Accelerate and set: Lift lever briefly to set speed. Hold lever up to accelerate.
  2. Decelerate and set:
Depress lever briefly to set speed. Hold lever down to decelerate.
Normally the vehicle is accelerated to the desired speed with the accelerator. Speed is set by briefly pushing
the lever to position 1 or 2. The accelerator can be released. The speed can be increased (e.g. for passing)
by using the accelerator. As soon as the accelerator is released, the previously set speed will be resumed automatically. If a set speed is to be increased or decreased slightly, e.g. to adapt to the traffic flow, hold lever in position 1 or 2 until the desired speed is reached, or briefly tip the control lever in the appropriate direction for increases or decreases in 0.6 mph (1 km/h) increments. When the lever is released, the newly set speed remains.
  3. Canceling
To cancel the cruise control, briefly push lever to position 3.
When you step on the brake or the vehicle speed drops below approx. 22 rnph (35 km/h), for example when driving upgrade, the cruise control will be canceled.
4. Resume
If the lever is briefly pushed to position 4 when driving at a speed exceeding approx. 22 mph (35 km/h), the vehicle resumes the speed which was set prior to the cancellation of the cruise control. The last memorized speed is canceled when the key in the steering lock is turned to position 1 or 0.
Note:
If the engine does not brake the vehicle sufficiently while driving on a downgrade, the speed you set on the cruise control may be exceeded and you may have to step on the brake pedal to slow down.
As soon as the grade eases, the cruise controlled speed will again be maintained as long as the brakes were not previously applied, or the lever may be used to resume the previously set speed if the brakes were applied.

Is there grease nipples around wheels of caravan

Is it a brake squeak? Some vehicles have a little metal tab on the brakes that starts squeaking when they get close to needing to be replaced. When you push the brake, the sound may go away due to the pressure being applied. Check your front brake pads.

SPEEDOMETER IS NOT CALCULATING PROPERLY

Most likely the Vehicle Speed Sensor is defective. the fact that the cruise control doesn't work properly Is the strongest link to the VSS being defective. If you want to DIY, go to https://www.hyundaitechinfo.com/ and get a free account to look through the service manuals for your specific model. '99 Beetle cruise control surge and speedometer has slight flutter.Occasionally speedometer drops to zero mph and cruise will then stop working. The "surge" is so bad that you can not drive with cruise on....

I would take a blind guess and sat the speedo sensor has an issue. 99' beetle should have an 01M auto, and the speed sensor is also the dipstick for the final differental drive. search around this area of the trans for the cable and snoop around. loose at the trans ? bad connection somewhere??

My Cruise Control Wont work, is there a special way to turn on the cruise, because the sign for cruise comes up but it doesnt cruise

First, your car must be in gear and driving approx more than 60 km an hour
Secondly, using the Cruise Stalk switch turn the Cruise on, the dash should now have a lit icon for cruise power (green).
Once you have the desired speed, gently press the button on the end of the cruise in to set your speed. Remove foot from throttle and confirm cruise is active. Another dash light should come on as well (orange)

Failing that, if it doesnt work the usual suspect like fuses and the brake pedal micro switch should be looked at...
