I can't remeber what bulbs they are,, but if they are 194 peanut sized bulbs they just pull straight out they may have melted some of the plastic or rubber and are tough to come out same with any of those 3rd brake light bulbs that are bigger ..if its 1157 or 1156 they do turn out 1/4 turn ,, 3057 bulbs also pull straight out but you may have to use force not finesse to remove them they may break but you can dig the rest of them out of the socket after..
good luck

Can I just replace the third brake light bulb only ..just the bulb.on a 2005 Chevy Malibu LS.or do I have to replace the hole brake light itself..

from inside the trunk looking up at the light First, gently work the gray, carpet like cover loose from the area around the tail light ,(this may give you a little trouble). Once you have done this, you will see three silver nuts. These must be unscrewed. The lower left nut must be accessed through a hole next to where the trunk lid fits. (The screws are permanently attached to the lens housing so will not drop into obscurity when the nuts are removed). After removing the nuts, GENTLY work the lens housing away from the car. You may need a screw driver to unseat the housing, but just be gentle.

You will find three bulbs inside the lens. The brake light bulb is on the lower right side. Simply pull the old bulb out and insert the new one.

Just reverse these directions to reassemble the housing.

Rear window brake light dead how do I repaire it ?

The third brake light socket is located inside your trunk...under the rear shelf...unscrew the socket counterclockwise to remove the bulb...use a book (or your manual) to confirm replacement with the exact bulb type...have help to check before completing. Hope this helps.

you have to remove the taillamp assembly. there should be 2 screws(possibly torx heads)on the side when you open the hatch, remove those screws and pull the taillight out-the just unscrew the bulb

Brake light, reverse light and turn signal issues

Hello. The symptoms you are describing are likely due to a poor ground. Temporarily install a new ground wire by securing a piece of copper wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. Use this ground wire along with the hot wire to see if each of these lights works. If it does, trace the ground wire back to the frame, unscrew it and clean up the metal with emery cloth so you reestablish a good ground.

Change brake light on 1996 oldsmobile

This is a odd circumstance for many people including myself. The 2 options are to
1) Unscrew the srews holding the cover and replace the bulb or
2) Pry the light out with a screwdriver and then replace the bulb

These are the only 2 solutions I have to offer you.. Of course #2 can result in esxcessive force but is in many cases nescessary. Be careful though... big money is invested in the replacement of these lights as they can break. Good luck.
