Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.

How to replace tail light 1996 Suburban

Hello,
I changed the tail lights of my wife's suburban which is the same as yours some few weeks ago,here is how i did it myself,although i'm a mechanic but its not technical;

STEP1. Two screws inside the tail gate jam.
STEP 2. Pry with fingers or something that won't scratch the paint the tail light out (Forward). try not to break anything

STEP 3. Good thing is the bulbs are interchangeable an they have multiple filaments in them. I was able to swap mine around for some bulbs with unused filaments.

STEP 4 Check all lights after replacement of course. Don't want to make your brake lights work and then your turn signal not work.
Problem solved.

Thanks for using fixya, have a nice day.

I need to replace the tail/brake light but don't know how to get behind the cover without breaking it

Open the trunk and remove the two inner screws. The screws are located on the inner part of the tail light assembly. Once the screws are removed, you must pull hard but gently on the tail light. You will now have access to all bulbs. Hopefully this helps

How to change rear brake light

From inside the trunk, move the liner aside opposite the tail lamp assemblies. There are three plastic wing nuts holding the assembly in place, which you should be able to remove without tools. Once these wingnuts are off, the tail lamp assembly can be pulled to the rear away from the body. The individual bulbs can be removed with a quarter twist of the connector/socket.

Replace toyota sienna brake light - Model 2000

If you are talking about the High Brake Light at the top of the tailgate:

1.) Take out the two Phillips head screws in the lens.
2.) Carefully pry the lens straight back . The gasket sticks to the paint so be careful not to rip the foam gasket.
3.) The bulb is a 921 replacement. Easily found size.

If you're talking about the brake light in the tail light assembly:

The instructions for accessing the tail light are in the Owners Manual. Basically, you have to remove one or two screw/bolts from the inside of the vehicle, then there are two snap type plastic hole/receptacle in the plastic tail light assembly. Be very careful that you pry on the housing in the proper direction, perpendicular to the entry of the snap in connector, or you will break the plastic bayonet or attachment to the lens assembly.

It sounds harder than it really is once you take a look at it. If you have a manual, it will tell you and show you how to get the rear tail lights off easily without breaking any of the plastic connectors. Hope this helps.

Replace rear window brake light bulb

I just had to do this, and it isn't all that easy or quick. First, gently work the gray, carpet like cover loose from the area around the tail light ,(this may give you a little trouble). Once you have done this, you will see three silver nuts. These must be unscrewed. The lower left nut must be accessed through a hole next to where the trunk lid fits. (The screws are permanently attached to the lens housing so will not drop into obscurity when the nuts are removed). After removing the nuts, GENTLY work the lens housing away from the car. You may need a screw driver to unseat the housing, but just be gentle.

You will find three bulbs inside the lens. The brake light bulb is on the lower right side. Simply pull the old bulb out and insert the new one.

Just reverse these directions to reassemble the housing.

I don't know this van but many tail light assembly's have a couple of screws you remove then a couple of snap clips. So after you remove the screws you gently pry the assembly off with a slim pry tool.
