Question about 2004 Kia Sorento

1 Answer

I am installing a block heater into a 2006 Kia Sorento LX with a 3.5. I was givein a block heater that is said to install into the NPT pipe plug at the lower left rear of the engine. However, on the right side of the engine I see a freeze plug that could be easy popped out and replaced with a frost plug heater. What do you think??

Can you tell me more specific where the NPT pipe plug is located on the block? Will I have to remove anything to get to the plug? I have looked for a diagram and have been unsuccessful.

You already have the heater that can be easily connected to the NPT pipe, so that is the one I would use. Just drain the coolant down below the level of the connection and install it. This would be a good time to service the cooling system by replacing the coolant and thermostat. Installing a casting plug heater is more difficult and must be done correctly or it will leak. Of the two, the heater that is connected to the heater hose is much easier to install. Either one will work so the choice is yours.

Where is the block heater cord on the 2004 kia sorento?

Are you sure it has a block heater on it? The plug is usually around the front grill but unless someone added it as an aftermarket option, it probably doesn't have one.

Good Luck
