Why does it make a whinning noise in idleing for a 2005 trailblazer

Could be a number of things , like the belt needs replacing, or the Idler pulley bearing is going bad Simply start engine and watch the belt you may see one of the pulleys wobble a little you can try using a bar of cheap soap with engine running gently press against the belt and let it coat it, if the whinning goes away the belt is worn out

2003 Impala is making a whinning noise after car is started on front of driver side. Noise seems to leave after car has been running for a little while.

You may have a vacum leak. Its hard to say where its coming from without looking at it and listening to it but, the reason why it would stop when it gets hotter is that metal expands when its hot. But start with the cheap stuff. Maybe its just your belt that needs to be changed.

A rattling noise from the engine bay

Check the heat shields on the exhaust system. They get loose from the extreme heat fluctuations work loose and rattle. Especially the one between the engine and firewall where the 02 sensor screws in. It probably rattles less after warm up because heat causes expansion which makes it tighter. Hope this helps.

Change alternator on 2003 chevy impala

here is a trick. While it is running, use a yardstick or wooden broom hande, and place it on the casting of the alternator or object you suspect is growling. You can hear the bad bearing amplified through the wood if you put your ear to it. It is a great way to pin point bad bearing noise

Noisy rattle in engine compartment of 2003 Impala on cold start.

Take a broom handle(with the broom removed) or long heavy dowel rod , start the engine when cold and place one end of handle to your ear and the other to different parts non-moving parts of the engine compartment, including the engine to narrow down  the location of the noise.

Lifter noise when on start up then goes away after few minutes

These engines did make a little rattle when first cranked. Are you running an ac/delco filter? i have seen a lot of engines make noise from cheap oil filters. they will let all the oil drain out so when you start it has to fill the filter back up before getting oil to engine
