Oil must meet VW specification 507.00 (this is a special 5W30 oil). Anything else will destroy the DPF and/or camshaft.

Hi. I have a 2005 VW Passat B5.5, 2.0 TDI DPF, 1968 cmc 100 kw, engine code BGW. I just bought the car, and i really need to know what engine oil to use. I bought 5 liters of Castrol EDGE 5w30 that meets...

the oil you got is fine,as the car uses more oil as it gets older the lower number should get higher (i.e. 5/30-10/40-20/50)that way you control the amount of oilburn.roughly a pint every 1000miles is about right.

Passat 2006 2.0 tdi 140 engine won't start dash warning says either "engine fault, garage" or "low oil pressure".

Exhaust pressure sensor a possibility if it has a DPF (diesel particulate filter). Has it had its fuel pump recall, the oil pressure light could be just the constant cranking and running the battery low.

You will have to speak to a audi dealer ref the DPF side of things, the oil you have to use is the audi castrol long-life oil. Audi say you can use upto a litre of oil to every 1000 miles
