Since you replaced the gasket between the head and Plenum I would suspect that the bolts loosened up on the intake plenum. tighten them first, you may have damaged the gasket to running it this way. You can try tightening them down and see if this helps.
Since you said the hose broke on the back of the engine the #3 cylinder may have overheated and may have damaged rings. The only way to know for sure is run a compression test to see if it has lower compression than the other cylinders. Also a vacuum check would tell you if you had a intake leak. these two problems will cause a miss and will also cause the Check engine light to come on intermittently. As for the antifreeze I think that would again indicate you did not re-tighten the bolts after the engine warmed up the first time. Sine it ran ok after you fixed the gasket I would bet that's causing you anti freeze problem. And the ignore the low coolant light I think that's just something leading you away from your main problem, (Misfire) . If you need more help please post a response to this e-mail you get and will help you more if you need it. Thanks for your time and using Fix-ya Hope this helps you.

A personal observation:
I have a vehicle in my shop with the exact same problem. An attempt at an intake gasket replacement did indeed cause a head gasket failure.

This issue is a little difficult at this moment. That is because check engine light doesn't come on its own, it is an indication of a System error accompanied with a specific code. Better that you get the E-System checked and scanned with a Code Scanner so that we can diagnose the code and give appropriate fix. But according to your information the Third Shifting Solenoid is misfiring that indicates a Code of P0303. To fix it first check the Solenoid no. 3 and get it replaced. As you have not specified the code, then I am giving a remark on some usual factors which can be faulty. Its good that you have diagnosed the Coolant. Some other points that can be faulty is mainly the O2 Sensor. It is a sensor whose characteristics is to regularly fail. That may be the cause. Also the Car System can be low on fluid of the System. I mean the fluid such as brake fluid, etc.
Please diagnose the Code and give it to us, we will surely sort it out.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

How can i fix the missfire on a cylinder toyota corolla 2000 1.8ltr

First you need to retrieve codes from the Engine control module. You can buy a cheap code retriever at harbor freight and get the codes. After you get the codes, if it is P0301 it means cyl #1, P0302 = cyl #2, P0303=cyl 3 and P0304= cyl 4. For ex: if you got P0301 you should remove the ignition coil #1(near the front of the engine, where the pulley is) and change its position with the coil # 2. Also remove the spark plug #1 and change the position with the spark plug #4. Clear the codes and start and run the engine until the check engine light goes on. Check for codes and see if the code change for a different code. If it change the position observe which one is the change. If is P0304 you have a bad spark plug, If it is P0302 you have a bad coil. If it repeat P0301, you have either a low compression, bad injector/connector, bad intake gasket them you should continue your diagnostic. I hope this help you.

2000 cadilac deville dts started with a missfire on cileder 3. I changed the plugs, boots, coil pack, fuel filter. car ran better still has a miss when i am in gear with my foot on the brake. I found that...

is there a check engine light on? did you change the spark plug wires?
you may have a intake gasket leak or possibly a cracked intake manifold. there is a simple test to try to determine if there is a leak in the intake but it can be potentially hazzardous. with a can of carberator cleaner, spray around the intake gasket and manifold. if the engine revs up, there is a leak. you can also purchase a vacuum gauge and test the amount of vavuum the engine makes. typically 17-22 hg. connect the gauge to a main vacuum port such as the hose to the brake vacuum booster

New head plugs and wires coil packs missing on #1 & #2 cyl

hi from uk i assume you have done all the above work correctly? and the leads from coils are correct firing order 1 3 4 2 ? CAMBELTtiming set correctly etc as you say this has happened since cyl head renewed and miss fire is on Nos 1+2 cyl's this normally suggest now after all work u have done and assume compressions are ok ? i had such a fault on a customers mini some years ago who had done exact type of job as you described this fault turned out to be the inlet manifold gasket had split between cyls inlet ports and resulted in missfire on 2 cyls adjoining on removal of manifold the gasket had been damaged whilst reassembling new gasket cured missfire which had caused weak mixtur on both cyls ie on induction more air being drawn via cracked gasket on each cyl and as your engine if injection same problem?? might be worth checking?? hope this throws some light on the problem?

Code shows missfire on No 1 cylider. When engine is cold it runs a rich mixture. If the missfire is still No 1 then check for vac leak on manifold. Perhaps a vac line or intake gasket.

Just to let you Know what you R getting into-I just got rid of My 2000 Blazer (THANK GOD)!!!! If you check out the Recalls and Complaints Online for the 2000 and Up Chevy Blazer you will be Reading for Months!!!! I am Chevy to the BONE and bought this for My Wife-It was GREAT for the first 15000 Miles and then Everything went Haywire! The Seats Broke, Lights quit, Tranny went Twice, Brakes Failed 3 Times, NEVER Ran Right again, Guages quit working, ON and ON and ON. GM will NOT honor these Recalls and Fixing them is REALLY Expensive. Just MY Opinion But, GET RID OF IT WHILE YOU CAN!!!! Took a BIG loss on Mine and Don't Regret it!!!!

1997 f150 4.6ltr engine has just been rebuilt. I drove it for a week everything was fine. engine began hesitating at idle and stumbles upon acceleration. oil pressure gauge fluctuating at idle. missfire...

Check for a vaccum leak at the intake. Spray a bit of starting fluid in this area with the engine at idle. This engine will speed up a bit when you hit the spot! Replace the gasket or put the hose back on. Way you go! Frankster016
