Its probably the ignition modual. this is a square box ussualy located on the fire wall or inner fender.it has a triangular plug with three wires. I have found that if at all possible its nice to mount a spare one right next to the stock one

Turns over but wont start some time you could get it to start if you let go of the key real quick

that action indicates a battery problem
there is just enough power to turn over the engine but insufficient in reserve to energize the electronics to get the spark
by letting go of the key real quick , the engine is still turning but the need for power to the starter is stopped and the electronics gets a surge of power
probably find that if you could clutch start it it would fire up immediately
have a load test done on the battery to check for a bad cell

Hi Santino, I'm Al the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Santino, are you saying when you turn the key to the start position it does nothing meaning its completely dead. OR are you saying when you turn the key to the start position the engine turns over but it will not start and run. If it does nothing then there could be a problem with the KEY Itself or could be the starter relay. Check at the starter relay to see if your getting power from the ignition switch when its turned to the start position. If you don't have power there it could be the ignition switch. But, if you do have power there then you need to see if your getting power from the relay to the starter. Reinstall the relay and have someone turn the key to the start position while you check for power on the small wire going to the starter. I'm stopping here until I know which problem your facing. For further assistance go to my website and answer the question I ask. Have an awesome day Santino. Auto Repair

My 2000 Cougar will not start. Everything is getting power but when I turn over the engine I get nothing. No clicking and it won't turn over. Any suggestions?

I replace one of the blue 20amp fuse under the hood number 40 or 41.... Then mine started but, now the car is not running like it should... The motor runs ruff and sounds like it has a tap in the motor... Hope this helped

Turn ignition on but car wont crank..it will start if u turn key on and jump the solenold

The starter solenoid is bad or the ignition switch is bad. Check the solenoid to see if it is getting power. If the solenoid is getting power then the solenoid is bad. But if the solenoid is not getting power with the key in the start position, then the ignition switch is bad.

I have an 1989 jeep comanche. It had an ignition switch bypass. I took it off and replaced the switch and the relay. If i touch the positive battery cable to the green starter wire on the relay it...

on the relay there will be a small wire that gets power when you turn the key to the start position
find that wire and connect it to the small terminal of the starter solenoid
then if you get it right , when you turn the key to start, power will get to the starter solenoid , energize the solenoid and the starter will engage

92 cadilac deville gets power when you turn on the key, but won't crank when you turn the key to start.

If getting power means that the lights on the dash come on, that's not enough to start the car. Begin by checking the battery voltage and contact surfaces on both battery cables and terminals. Also check connection at starter and block ground. If you find nothing there, check power at trigger wire (small wire) on starter with the key turned to start position. If there is 12v there, likely the starter is bad.

Won't start getting nothing when i turn key

Recheck all your connections, battery. starter, look for fuseable link on small wire going to starter. Might want to chk.that wire with test light when key switch is in start position and see if it lights. If it does not light might be starter switch under dash on steering colume.
