The old seal went because it was old, but the new one should not have unless a) it was not properly fitted or b) it was of poor quality or c) both. Put a new seal of good quality.

2002 Ford Escort zx2. I was pushing brakes to stop and felt the car coast, brake light came on. Was able to drive home (I was only 2 miles away) because one set of brakes worked. No brake fluid leaking. I...

There two sections in the master cylinder one half is front the other half is rear, the fluid inside the master cylinder could be bypassing the seals and causing the brakes to fail. Possible master cylinder replacement.

Hi i have a 1994 dodge caravan it is leaking oil can this be fix im worry that we would have to save money for a van for my kids thanks

The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.
Hope this helps... Dale

Diagram of how to take apart air intake manifold

Very easy job but I don't think there is a diagram. You'll need to remove the wiper arms, then the black snaps that attach the front cowl just below the windshield, then remove all the 8mm bolts that hold the front cowl down at the back of the engine compartment...leave the wiper motor attached to it, just un-plug it, un-plug the washer hose and lift the cowl out. Now you can get at all the bolts and studs that hold the top half of the plenum, remove them and the throttle linkage, also the vacuum line at the back of the intake, also the EGR solenoid connector. Remove the top half of the plenum Now remove all the 8mm bolts that hold the lower half to the manifold and lift it out. When you re-install it, use new seals as they always leak even though they look good- this is the biggest cause of lean codes on this vehicle.

Hope this helps,

Oil seal leaking on 1999 gmc half ton 4w/d on front of transfere case do i need special tools or can I drop drive line and replace seal

billbohman: Unless GMC has had some change I am not aware of and that has not been published in service manuals for the repair of these units, the procedures are the same as any seal replacement and require no special tool. There are some universal seal installation tools which I would venture the majority of techs don't have because they substitute other tools in their place most of the time. Most techs will have a special tool designed from removing seals. However, the seal can be removed without it.
Just use a little common sense when removing a seal. Don't damage the casing.
Good Luck.

Transmission leak

You can have a leak at the pan on the bottom or the front pump seal or the tail shaft seal at the very rear. Most of the time it will be the pan gasket. The constant heat and vibration can cause this to occur. Not a big deal. You can pick up another pan gasket and filter and change them both. The tail seal is an easy fix also. Remove the drive line and pop the seal out and place the new one in. If it is the front pump seal you will have to remove the transmission to gain access for replacement. Good luck.

Transmission slipping......

If its the main seal gone, you will have to remove the tranny regardless because the main seal is the torq converter seal.Even though it leaks,if its slipping when full of oil chances are your tranny is no good,if it shifts fine its not to late, just keep it full of oil and have the leak fixed.Look under the front of the car when its in park, with the e.brake on and running, look for the leak.If the leak is between the the motor and the tranny its probably the main seal.Check the transmission pan, axle seals and coolant lines for leaks also.Changing the transmission is no small job and should be done by a garage if your not sure how to do it.Hope this helps.
