Without seeing it, I would guess that you have a problem with clean contacts. Especially in cars with smokers, the contacts of something like a fuse or a light bulb can become corroded just enough to stop the light from working. Wiggling it scrapes away the debris and allows for contact. I suggest that you take some steel wool and lightly scrub the contact points on both the light and the fixture. **Be sure to have all the doors closed so you dont short out the steel wool.** If you are concerned with the abrasive nature of the steel wool, a pencil eraser will sometimes work just as well. Either way, it just sounds dirty which is par for any car. Good luck!

This is a real pain, took me forever to find mine... there is a little TINY slot that you can fit a VERY small flat head screwdriver in to pop it off.
Dont worry, the plastic is durable, just try to use a precision screwdriver if you have one and basically pry it open. it really will just Pop off once you get in there

Look on the sides of the dome light and look for a tiny little notch in the plastic. Take a screwdriver and gently pry at the notch and it should just pop out

In the event that the tear of the copper ribbon is too great for solder alone, you could also try soldering a circle of copper wire. This might help prevent extensive buring/melting of any exposed plastic. One problem you might run into with after choosing eithier solution is that the bulb socket might not fit. In which case you would want to seak help from some one who can trouble shoot this problem in person, say a family member, especially if he is an electrical engineer.
