No. But after working a 12 hour shift and then starting the car there was a high pitched noise, increased as the speed increased. Back to the wet road...if I run through an area of standing water, that's usually when the battery light comes on. I don't know if a belt is wet and slipping for a few seconds???

Also I think I'm having timing chain tensioner problems. If I had known the '06 Sonata's were having that problem I wouldn't have bought mine.

We put a little oil on the serpentine belt and the squealing has stopped for now.

Do you hear any squealing when this happens?

Ok, the high pitch sound is your idle pulley bearings going bad. The splash of water is exactly that, the belt gets wet and slips. Definitely a pully, more than likely the idler pully.

How do you know if alternator is bad on a 2006 hyndai sonata v6

Using a volt meter check the voltage at the battery with the vehicle running. There should be more than 13.5 volts. If it is more like 12 volts or less that the alternator is not working or there is an open between the alt and the battery. The most common cause of the battery light is a bad alternator.

Hyundai sonata runs rough, little power, wet coil pack; how can i dry coil? Thanks

Use a high pressure AIR jet so that the water is blown off and also use a hot air dryer on the coil.
It is possible that the wet coil has reduced the firing intensity and made the engine rough with a change of timing.

Power steering went out while driving and battery

If the belt gets wet and flies off, or starts to slip, the power steering and alternator will stop spinning causing this condition.

Check belts to see if they are still on the truck and spinning the pulleys of the alternator and power steering pump.

Have 2007 Santa Fe which I love - problem: Drove thru puddle about 3 months ago - Battery light came on & lost power steering, but after 1 minute, batt light off & steering fine... Then, on very...

the crank pulleys (also called a harmonic dampener) on these vehicle are a fairly common failure. as they begin to break apart, the pulley will begin to have a wobble as the engine runs, causing the drive belts that power your alternator, power steering, etc to loosen off. when the belts then get wet, combined with being loose, they will slip, causing your accessories not to work. hope this was helpful!
