Ford as a horrible door pin switch in the latch the holds the door when closed. so i have fix them by spraying wd-40 in the latch on the side of the door and opening and closing the door muliable times. the pin gets gummed up and sticks. thewd-40will loosen it but the door has to be opened and close till it free's up. now the issue is if you don't know what door it is you have to do ths for ll the doors till the problem goes away.

if that doesn't work you will need to replace the bad doorlatch and the only way to figure it out is to scan the body computer with a scnner that a repair shop would have.

hopefully this works for you and is defiently the problem. issue is figuring out wT ONE HAS JAMMEDUP. GOOD LUCK

Door ajar switch problem more then likely or wiring issue . The BCM - body control module won't turn off interior light , let door lock because it think's the door is open . The door ajar switch is a input to the BCM .

The first thing would be to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Also check with an enhanced scan tool to see if the BCM shows ajar switch data (open or closed ? Do you know about body electronics ?

2008 explorer door locks not locking from door switches

This is not a good thing. Ford uses a computer called the GEM and that means General Electronics Module. It controls:
  • Low Coolant Indicator On Cluster
  • Brake Indicator on Cluster
  • DRL - Control
  • Wipers
  • AutoLamps
  • Rear Defrost
  • Interior Lamps(dome)
  • High Beam Indicator only (cluster)
  • Low Coolant indicator
  • Key-in Buzzer
  • Seatbelt indicator only (Cluster)
  • Trunk Pop Relay
  • Power Locks
  • Door Ajar Sensors
  • Door Keyless entry pad
  • Remote Keyless Entry
  • One Touch Down (power window)
  • Air Bag Tone
  • Anti Theft (perimeter Alarm) (SEL, or SE(s) with mods)
  • Lift gate ajar (wagon)
  • Liftgate Pop
  • Accessory Delay signal (accessory that work after engine off, prior to door ajar)
  • Battery Saver Relay signal (accessory that work after engine off, 15 mins) Map lights, vanity mirrors

They are located behind the radio in the dash and they are $$$ about 600 USD.

Sounds like they might have missed plugging the door harness in to the body, or maybe left a ground unhooked.

It's hard to check the relay's for the door locks if you don't know where they are . They are not silver can type , they are one inch square ! They are located behine driver side rear quarter panel .
NOTE: The door ajar state will be monitored continuously for 500 ms after locking has occurred. If a door is opened again within 500 ms, the driver door will unlock
The electronic door lock system has three main components: the remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module, attached to the rear left hand quarter panel, the three-button (hand held) keyless entry remote transmitter (15K601), and the keyless entry keypad (14A626) on the driver side door.
The door locks are controlled by the RAP module through three external relays: the driver unlock relay (if equipped with two step unlocking), the all unlock relay, and the all lock relay. These relays are located in the relay box on the LH rear quarter panel.
The keyless entry remote transmitter initiates the following electronic door lock system functions:
Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are ?
RAP Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index
RAP Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index DTC Description DTC Caused By Action B1309 Power Door Lock Circuit Short to Ground RAP GO to Pinpoint Test C . B1341 Power Door Unlock Circuit Short to Ground RAP GO to Pinpoint Test C . B1485 Brake Pedal Input Circuit Short to Battery RAP GO to Pinpoint Test D . B1526 Keyless Entry Keypad Switch Circuit Short to Ground RAP GO to Pinpoint Test B . B1629 PRNDL Reverse Input Short to Battery RAP GO to Pinpoint Test E . B1845 Ignition Tamper Circuit Failure RAP Invalid DTC. Ignore this DTC. B2425 Keyless Entry Out of Synchronization RAP GO to Pinpoint Test C . B1334 Decklid Ajar Rear Door Circuit Short to Ground RAP REFER to Section 417-02 . .Without seeing if any codes are stored could go in a wrong diagnostic direction . You don't want to change parts that are not needed .
  1. Remove the LH rear quarter trim panel; refer to Section 501-05 .
  1. Disconnect the two remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module electrical connectors.
Generic Electronic Module (GEM)/Central Timer Module (CTM) Controlled Functions
The generic electronic module (GEM) is equipped on four-wheel drive vehicles with power windows. The central timer module (CTM) is equipped only on two-wheel drive vehicles without power windows.
NOTE: GEM/CTM diagnostics are compatible with the scan tool.
The GEM/CTM incorporates the functions of several different modules into one, and offers diagnostics to easily locate and repair concerns affecting the subsystems that it controls.
The GEM/CTM constantly monitors the systems it controls and reports a concern in the form of a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). A DTC can be retrieved with the scan tool through the communication link.
The scan tool is a menu-driven tester that allows the user to run specific tests. The scan tool can isolate faults in the GEM/CTM subsystems through a symptom-driven diagnostic procedure. Connecting the scan tool to the GEM/CTM communication link will not alert the GEM/CTM. If the GEM/CTM is "asleep" when the diagnostic connector is plugged in, the GEM/CTM must be "awakened". If the communication link cannot be established, turn the ignition to RUN.
NOTE: The GEM/CTM has a sleep function to minimize battery consumption. During the sleep mode, the GEM/CTM turns off all outputs and monitors only the following:
  • door ajar (driver door, passenger door, liftgate, LH rear and RH rear doors).
  • key-in-ignition.
  • key in RUN or ACC.
  • two-step unlock switch (unarm switch).
  • digital TR sensor.
  • illuminated entry request (remote anti-theft personality [RAP] module).
  • . There are more DTC'S for the GEM ,too many too post here . There is also a relay module behind the dash , looks like behind the radio , heater / A/C panel .
Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing using a wiring diagram an a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? How to test power an grounds ?

Keyless entry isn't working and alarm was tripped

Check your door latches. Since the light stays on, one of them isn't reading properly. Once you get that fixed, the remote should work. The light problem could be related. The computer thinks the door isn't shut so that part of the system thinks you aren't moving.

Keyless entry on honda civic 2006 not working

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.

spray some lubricant (wd40 etc.) into the lock mechanism on the doors .. the switch may be jamming up ..

The front door entry system contains a latch that is fastened to the inside of the door frame and is controlled by the exterior and interior door handles. The latch contains a door ajar switch and a door lock actuator. The front doors can be locked/unlocked by the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter, the RKE keypad, the door lock control switch or the door lock cylinder .
