Question about 1994 Buick Park Avenue

Need to know where the voltage regulator is on a 1994 buick park avenue it is supposed to be somewhere around the alernator. it is not the one built into the regulator but the outside one..

    Thanks for that answer but that is not the regulator I am talking about. There is also a regulator that IS NOT built into the alternator.

I have a 94 buick park avenue ultra for 3 yrs. and it started stalling out. Going on line, some people replaced most sensors and gas filter. My problem was vacuum lines that were shot and one, going yo the fuel pressure regulator wasn't connected, which was the main problem.

Voltage meter in the car has a red light that has been blinking and now the meter keeps going up and down. from 10 to 13

One possible cause would be the internal voltage regulator of the alternator is going bad.
Most parts stores provide a free check of the alternator and regulator.

If you are doing it yourself, a 3 piece kit including cam, crank, and chain will run you about $60. If you plan on taking to a shop plan on it being around $300!

How to change a voltage regulator for 95 Buick Park Avenue


The voltage regulator is built in to the alternator. It's better to replace the whole alternator then to just replace the regulator. The regulator and other parts like the bearing all have about the same amount of life time, unless the battery is weak which can put extra taxes on the regulator. Good luck and hope this helps.

Smoke and slight electrical smell


you have a wire shorting out in there somewhere. the best way to find out is to start the car turn on the headlights and take a look while the car is running to see if you can see smoke coming from the area you are talking about
