Need wiring diagram for 1988 jeep comanche 4x4 6

Engine will run when cranking. Shuts off instantly when key is in run position. When in run position, no 12v at fuel pump ballast resistor. It would help if I had a wiring diagram. Worked ok one day and not the next

Check the solenoid on the starter it powers the ign for starting then switches to run when you let off key, either the solenoid is bad or a wire to the solenoid has come unhooked and sometime they have an in line fuse which can blow.

Battery red light wont turn off on jeep comanche

If it stays on when the engine is running, the alternator is not charging the battery.
If it stays on with the key off, there is a short in the circuit to the alternator.

I need to know what kind of oil a 1988 jeep comanche uses?

If you have no engine leaks, you can run a 10w 30 or 20w 40 oil in your engine. I use full synthetics in all mine and add lucas engine additive as well. If you have leaks it gets expensive to use synthetics.
Always use a good quality filter ...that is the key to keeping your oil doing it's job. Change intervals should be 3,000 miles with conventional oil and 5,000 using synthetic.

Haynes manual has a diagram. Main important hookups are to power brake booster, fuel pressure regulator and map sensor. also need a connection to a/c controls inside drivers compartment and evap system canister. will also need connection to egr valve solenoid if you have one. as well as pcv on valve cover (or ccv which replaces pcv on some)

1988 jeep comanche will start only when you hold tumbler in the start position, when you relese it, engine stops.. engine is a 4.0 auto, fuel injected 4x4

If the car has a resistor coil with a ballast resistor to drop voltage from 12 to 8 then check the resistor wiring. When you engage the starter tumbler it by passes the ballast resistor and sends 12 volts straight to the eight volt coil to get good spark. When you release it the 12 volts goes through the resistor to 8 volts and then the coil. If there is a fault in this circuit the engine stops. Jump the 12 volts straight to the coil and start it. If it keeps going the ballast circuit is faulty. Paul
