Fluid is possibly trap in rubber bellows on ends of steering rack. if not there has to be an external leak somewhere else.

1994 4 runner has replaced power steering pump and hoses are fine but wont hold power steering fluid

IT CAN BE ISSUE WITH HOSES TOO. GET THE PRESSURE TEST CONDUCTED FOR POWER STEERING PUMP. IT WILL TELL YOU WHERE THE PRESSURE IS GETTING RELEASED SO YOU CAN CONCENTRATE ON THAT AREA.

Power steering fluid is going into the intake . On our 1991 Toyota 4 runner 3.0 v6 .

there is a vac. switch that screws into the p.s. pump that is most likely the problem. when the switch goes bad it will pull fluid up through the vac. lines into the intake....i have seen this problem many times in toyota and lexus and this switch is not that cheap.....this should take care of your problem....let me and fixya know if i was able to help you and a thumbs and a comment would be appreciated.......if i can help you in any other way let me know........good luck and have a blessed day.........thanks.......

Redish fluid (power steering or break fluid. it

Automatic transmissions use red fluid & it is routed through a line to the radiator for additional cooling. You would want to check that set of hoses & connections between the trans & radiator first. Secondly, the PS pump also uses trans. fluid & you'll need to trace those hoses & check for leaks.

good luck

Power steering doesn't work - 1990 Toyota Forerunner 3.0 engine

It sounds like your power steering pump has gone out. If your resevoir has fluid and there are no power steering lines with holes in them, that would be the next option to look at. When the pump goes out the fluid cannot move throughout the tube to help give you assitance in steering. Change this pump and your power steering will be back to normal. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using FixYa!
