Your problem may be with another component of the EGR system. It is the Delta Pressure Feedback EGR sensor and it is know to have problems. The sensor is connected to the EGR valve by the two lines coming off it. If you do a image search for DPFE Sensors on your make and model you can get an idea what it look for. It may be tucked back behind the intake and firewall. Also check all the hoses connected to it. A vacuum leak could aslo be at fault.
Because Ford has had a lot of problems with these, it is possible that it may even be under a recall so check with a ford dealer before spending any of your own money.
Hope this helps.

First did you clear codes from computer if yes then check you vaccum lines good for splits or one fell off, could be bad dpfe sensor, or you could try taking the egr vavle back off and starting some times carbon gets in the lines and manifold

Egr PO401

Code 401 is for low EGR air flow. The EGR valve allows exhaust gas to be recirculated back thru the intake and reburned.
The problem could be the EGR valve, the sensor, or a blocked line.

96 ford explorer failed emissions test with codes p0401,p0402,p0755,p0756

P0401
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor EGR (DPFE). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0401 code means that OBD detected an insufficient amount of EGR.

P0402
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor (DPF). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0402 code means that OBD detected an excessive amount of EGR.

There sound like a bad EGR and need replace it.

P0755 Shift Solenoid B Malfunction and P0756 Shift Solenoid B Performance or Stuck Off. First I suggtes check leve fluids and preventive maintenance.
