Question about Ford F-100
What makes a ford f100 start turning over when i connect the battery up.it did not have a solenode on it when i got it.I put a new solenode on it.I have four wires going to the solenode i know where the i and s goes but don't know where the other two go please tell me how to hook up the other wires and is there more than four wires going to the solenode The key don't even have to be turned on.But when i touch the battery cable to the battery it starts to turn over.the ground is hooked to the motor.I'm not much on wiring diagrams but if you can HELP Please DO!!! THANKS.Also it's a 302 motor
On the fender mounted solenoid there are 2 small studs marked S and I. On my 83 5.0L V8 the I is not used. The S is connected to the ignition switch, it's the small wire with the 90 Deg. terminal on it. Then it has 2 big studs on the solenoid. One to the left of the small S terminal you connect the Battery Positive cable. On the other big one goes the cable that goes down to the starter. Sound like you got both cables on battery side stud giving power to the starter without turning the key on. Follow the cable that goes down to the starter and then move it over to the other stud. That should fix your problem.
