Question about 1994 Mercury Sable

I am trying to determine what the lines are that run to the driver side of the engine, immediately above the thermostat. They are metal with a 1/4 inch or so diameter.

2004 pontiac aztek thermostat replacement? overheated today. never done it before. mileage is 64000, 3400 engine


The thermostat is located behind the metal housing that is bolted to the intake manifold on the drivers side of the engine below the throttle body.

There are 2 bolts holding the hosing on. A 13mm swivel socket and a 13mm wrench will be needed to remove the bolts.

Sometimes it is easier to remove the throttle body if it is your first time. It will let you see what you are doing a little better.

1. remove the air cleaner cover and hose attached to the throttle body.
2. remove the throttle body (optional)
3. Using a swivel socket and wrench remove the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing from the intake manifold.

Where is the EGR Valve located on a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser


The valve is located just above where the engine and transmission seam meets. Removal requires the airbox be removed.
There is the metal exhaust gas tube with 2 8mm bolts and a fiber gasket. The EGR mounts to the cylinder head with 2 10mm bolts and a metal gasket. There are 2 vacuum lines that go to the control solenoid, a black plastic pod moounted under the throttle body. It clips into the TB mounting bracket, and has a 3rd vacuum supply line and 1 electrical connector.

Hello! There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #1-15-6 that addresses electrolysis in the cooling system...If this TSB has been installed on your vehicle...There will be a tag on the drivers door with the TSB #...Also, a restrictor will be inserted into the heater core inlet...Lets eliminate this right up front...Check to see if this TSB is installed...
The vehicle does have a closed system...Electrolysis, coupled with air in the system is the likely culprit...Replacing the metal lines with rubber will increase electrolysis, which turns the coolant to a "goop"...Coolant flow is adequate when being pumped, but when you shut the engine off the goop blocks the system...Pressure is high...So coolant spews out...
I'll send a test to determine the level of electrolysis...You will need a DIGITAL multimeter...We'll fix the the electrolysis...flush the system...replace the thermostat...And properly bleed the air...Send comment about TSB and do yo have the digital meter...Guru...........Saailer

How to replace a thermostate in 2000 Chevy Venture


Make sure that the engine is completely cooled down. Notice the black metal line that runs in front of the housing? To make it slightly easier, you want to move it as much as you can. First, disconnect the two hoses from that line that are directly above the housing. Then follow the metal line around the front of the engine to its starting point on the passenger side. There is one bolt holding it in place, and another hose. Disconnect both, then move that line out of your way as best as you can. Good luck!! First remove the rubber hose and air cleaner lid and filter to give you some working space. Then carefully remove all the electrical plugs, there are about five or six of them coming off the wire harness. Then remove the screws and studs from the throttle body,there will be four of them. Next remove the throttle body. Now you can get to the thermostat. There are two bolts on the houseing. Remove the two bolts. Remove housing and old thermostat. The rear bolt on the houseing is a real pain, use a short 13mm wrench.Then put it all back together. DONT FORGET TO BURP THE SYSTEM OF AIR POCKETS!

My Air Conditioner Drain is plugged. Where is the


-- open the driver's door
-- locate where the air conditioner blower box is attached to the passenger side of the firewall - see photo #1 - look to the immediate right at the top of the gas pedal arm

-- condensation flows toward the front of the vehicle through the firewall at the leftmost edge of the air conditioner blower box - drain channel
-- open the hood and stand next to the front wheel on the driver's side
-- look down at the firewall over the battery and to the passenger side of the brake master cylinder - see photo #2

Need to replace the thermostat in a 1994 Toyota Camry


1. Look up along the lower radiator hose. It will plug into a metal tube on the engine side. Follow the metal tube. It goes to a housing. The housing is kind of buried in the driver's side of the engine. There are 2 smaller coolant tubes plugged in above it. You do not need to touch those, although it looks at first glance like you do.
2. Disconnect lower radiator hose at the metal tube.
3. Disconnect fan switches 1 and 2. These are on elecrtical harnesses going to this housing.
4. Disconnect a sensor on the front of the engine, just above the lower hose. I believe this is the knock sensor, but I'm not sure.
5. Now for the fun part. There are 3 bolts holding this housing on. You can see one at the top. There are 2 others underneath it, such that the bolts form a triangle pattern. You will have to get the bottom 2 out by feel (blind). They are 10mm.
6. Also, if you look to the front of the housing, you will note another 10mm bolt on the front holding down a black plastic leg. This is a wiring harness duct. Remove that bolt. Trace back along the duct. There is one more bolt on the driver's side retaining the duct. There is also one on the back of the engine at the firewall / driver's side. Remove these 2 as well.
7. There is a 12mm bolt holding the metal tube from that housing to the driver's side. Remove that bolt.
8. Gently pry the plastic wiring duct toward driver's side, and back toward firewall. You have just enough to get it off of the stud on the thermostat housing.
9. Now you can pull the housing. It will not come all the way out. It will come loose enough to give you just enough clearance to remove the thermostat (barely). Once you remove the thermostat, you have to pass it downward and toward the firewall to fumble it out.
By the way, you will notice that the metal tube is kind of wiggly in the thermostat housiung. This is normal.
10. Pass the new thermostat in the same way you got the old one out. Make sure when you plug it in that it has an air bleed poppet, and that this poppet is facing up.
11. Reassemble by reversing removal. Getting the nuts / bolts back in blind is... fun...
I don't know the torque spec. You can get a torqure wrench in there barely if you get creative with extensions, knuckles, etc. I wouldn't go abouve 8-10 ft-lb.

Engine temp isnt consistant


What you need to do is bleed the coolant system of air. There is a metal coolant line runing from one side of the motor to the other, 1 end by the pwr seer pump & upper motor mount and the other end by the throtle body. There's a bleed nipple at each end, its a little tricky cause you have to rev the engine and open & close the nipple making sure coolant is coming out and not steam when you close the nipple. That should take care of your problem.
