Unequal brake wear is somewhat normal in vehicles with the left front wearing first followed by the right front and finally the rears wearing at about the same rate.

Why does my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix make a clicking sound when braking right after the brakes were changed?

My first guess would be one of the brake pads or the caliper is moving. You should be able to jack up one wheel at a time and find out where the noise is coming from.

How many clicks should youe ebrake have and how do you adjust/tighten

E-Brake tension should be adjusted not by clicks but how high the the ebrake sits. Handle or peddle should go down about 2/3 of the way to a full locked tire. any more than this and you are taking a chance with running out of tension, any less than this and you stand the chance of brake drag, which wears out your brake shoes. Some n-Bodies(grand Am) have a 17 MM nut on the cable by the rear axle tube. Others have rear disc/drum combinations and need to be adjusted inside the drum brake assembly.

Noise comming from left side front sounds like wheel is scraping something, the faster the car goes the faster the chirp gets

COULD BE THE BRAKE PAD WEAR INDICATOR AS THE PADS MIGHT BE CLOSE FOR REPLACEMENT. ALSO A ROCK CAUGHT IN BRAKE/CALIPER AREA CAN CAUSE THE NOISE AS WELL.

I have a 2002 pontiac grand prix. my e-brake light will stay on when the e-brake is not on.

Check your brake fluid level. Low fluid levels will cause the brake light to come on. If the fluid is not low, there could be a problem with the emergency brake light switch or the brake fluid level sensor.

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix making noise on l-f wheel. Sounded like brake indicator so I took apart to check and there is a tab about 3-4 inches long rubbing on brake rotor. Is this an indicator for some thing...

  • This is called a sensor. When the pads ware down to the point they need to be changed those sensors will begin to scrape on the rotor. If the pads are not changed real soon they will ruin the rotors too. I recommend a replacement of the pads and an inspection of the rotors real real soon.

  • Thank you for using FixYa

Fron Brakes keep gonig bad

Going bad ??? NOt sure what you mean by this, but I assume wearing quickly........i would suggest front caliper overhaul....repair/replace sticking slides as this can result in brakes dragging and have porr efficiency and excessive wear rate
