Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) or check the transmission control module for burned capacitors, etc.

Acura Integra 1.8L automatic transmission wont shift gears? its like its stuck in first?

Does the engine accelerate okay? Shifting to any other gear help? Check the transmission fliud level, if it is full (and brown or black) you need a rebuild, if it is low add fluid to full mark and try again.

I am needing to replace a solenoid on my 1992 acura integra but not sure what solenoid I am looking for. It isn't wanting to shift into higher gear when I accelerate at higher speeds

it may not be a solenoid--but dirty fluid or filter or even level--mite be a computer control issue too--have car scanned and a data stream run that shows in detail--a test drive by an experienced tech helps but dont fall fora rebuild cause trans can last to 300 thou miles

I have a sound like a bird chirping under the hood of my 89 Acura. It cycles on & off...I never know when it will sound. I was told it is coming from my automatic transmission, which shifts perfectly...

it can be fixed but if its the tranny hers some things you can do 1 cheek the fluid, see if its leeking out or look dark coller should be a ruby red color next check the transmision seals depending on if its rear wheel drive ware the drive shaft is located next play with the clucth swich it back and forth between park and low gears let the car move a lil if it acts up youre looking at a trany job

The transmission will not shift gears and the

Hi:
This same thing happened to my daughter,s car, and it ended up being fixed with a transmission speed sensor. This sensor not only runs the speedometer, it helps tell the transmission when to shift too.

Engine speed hunts on idle. Auto trans slow shift.

The fast idle valve is inside the throttle body. Sometimes it backs out and needs turned back in (it's threaded). This will cause the loping idle.

Get transmission filter changed with new fluid. Honda does not recommend transmission flushing.

99 silverado will not shift into overdrive

have a 1998 K3500 silverado 4x4 with 454 motor and 4L80E transmission. I can not get over 55 or 60 mph. At that speed the transmission down shifts from 4th (OD) to 3rd. The speedometer also drifts from about 50 to 65. If I try to speed up it will down shift to 3rd. I have replaced the VSS on the trasfer case. Is there another speed sensor somewhere? Or could it be the TPS? The truck drives and shift normal up to this point. where should i look next. thanks

99 Mercury sable speedo/tranny

VSS (vehicle speed sensor) Tells the PCM (computer) the speed of the vehicle so the PCM can make the proper information to the TCM (transmission control module) to shift.
YOU are goin gto need a scan tool NOt a code reader to monitor the VSS to see what it is putting out for speed when the car is moving But I believe you need a VSS but do not not Go out and buy one until you have had it tested , and can positively confrim it is bad first. Please rate this a fixya if you find this advice helpful, Thanks Randy
