Follow the upper radiater hose to an aluminum neck that bolts on to the engine. It will usually have 2 to 3 bolts. Under the neck when removed the thermostat will be under it sandwiched between the engine and neck. Make sure the grove that it sits in and all areas on neck and engine are cleaned well. Be sure to remove all of old gasket. Or it could and probrably will cause a leak. also remember to be carefull not to over tighten bolts when putting back together. it's aluminum and will crack. I hope this helped you out. It would be appreciated if you could rate my answer. Good luck. MIKE-

My 2002 mazda 626 was overheating. Replaced the radiator (cracked) and coolant tank (leaking). Still overheating. Its the thermostat or the water pump right? Which should I check first? Where how and what...

I would check the thermostat. It should be in the housing that the upper radiator hose connects to. I would take the thermostat and put it in a pan of water on a stove, if the thermostat doesn't start to open before the water begins a rolling boil, the thermostat is probably stuck closed.

Where is the thermostat located in a 93 mazda 626 with a v6 engine?

Follow your top radiator hose to where it connects to the engine block. The hose will be attached to a housing held down by 2 or 3 bolts. Disconnect the hose, remove the bolts and housing.

The thermostat will be sitting below the housing. It will look like this...

Charge light, abs light, and rear light. Mazda 626 1993 2.5L

It can be as simple as the funny belt tensioner on the alternator!

I hope you got a simple volt meter to check the voltage.

12.8-13.6V is a health battery.

Get someone to help you to put tension on alt. belt.

If it does not look good then change it.

Double check all belts.

The should not give over 1/2" I like to keep them 1/3" of less.

Tighten all connections.

Pull spark plug cap one at at time to check for corrosion.

The coil can cause a lot of problem.

Spend time to grounding and secure all coil boot.

Good luck

1993 mazda 626 battery goes dead and it overheats

That second Problem IS The Waterpump. As for the First Problem, You may need to replace the Belt and Belt Tensioner. If the Tensioner is Bad it will allow the Belt to slip and will Not allow the Alternator to Recharge the Battery. For that Matter it Could cause the Overheating Also. I would go with the Belt and Tensioner First and see where you are.

The upper radiator hose runs into the thermostat housing. Remove the front of the housing and you will find the thermostat.
