I believe the Celica has a belt and it should be inspected every 100,000 miles or so. You can inspect it yourself and as long as there is no missing teeth on the belt or cracks it shouldn't need replacing. Good luck to you

You have a belt with 169 teeth in it and this is a site where you can find a new one. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1438488&parttype=5716&a=FRc1438488k481208

00 celica gts timing chain problems

The timing chain should not routinely need changing, but perhaps the tensioner does.
Try first to eliminate any other causes, like the bearings in the fan, drive belt idlers, or alternator. A useful tool is a long screwdriver which you can apply to the various areas while placing your ear to the top of it while the motor idles.
Be very careful to keep clear of moving parts like fan blades.

Never as it does not have a timing belt but instead has a timing chain that requires no maintenance and should last the life of the engine.
