The BTSI (Brake Transmission Shift Interlock) has a small spring retainer on the park safety. A small plastic tab breaks & releases the spring. This requires the shifter to be disassembled in order to be repaired.

Repaired mine Sunday May 1st and can provide detailed instructions if desired.

If you are lucky, your brake interlock is the only problem. There is a bypass switch located beside the gear selector. Remove the small "cubby" bin located next to the gear shift by simply lifting up to remove. You will note a small access port and a pink button contained therein. Press the pink button to override the brake interlock.

If you still cannot shift into park, then the shifter must be removed for the spring repair. Even if yours is still under warranty, you will get another shifter that will eventually fail due to poor engineering.

Please let me know if you would like my assistance.

I will be happy to. It will take me a day to hammer out the details and attach a few pictures taken during my repair. Is your Magnum currently out of commission pending the repair? If so, I will try to expedite the procedure.

I'm having the same issue as described above. I was able to pull the covers off & see the pink device in front of the shifter. I notice the shift cable, but when I press the brake it appears not to release the pink device for the shift to release from park. I was able to push in the pink device and the shifter moves freely from park.
Can you still provide your detailed instructions that worked for you?
    Thanks in Advance

Check your brake light fuse in the fuse panel. Many newer vehicles have the saftey feature of not letting the shifter move out of the park position if the brake lights are not working.

Good Luck,
Richard

Check and make sure the brake lights work. This assumes you mean stuck in park position. You can override this, refer to the owners manual, you know that book that came with the car that no one reads.

I had the same problem. The interlock was not the problem. I had the shifter replaced (at my own expense because drive train warranty would not cover). After examining the old shifter discovered source of problem is a plastic cam on the front of ths shifter. A tiny PLASTIC ear which connects to a small spring had broken off. I repaired this by putting in a small screw where the ear had been. Incidentally, my tow truck driver had also seen the same problem on several Chrysler 300s. In my estimation this is a poor design on Chrysler's part.
