THe rotor is not held on by nut. If you are talking about taking the axle off and axle nut is abut 1 3/4 - 1 7/8

they are free floating, if they are stuck on there u can hit them with a hammer to free them but only hit them with a hammer if replacing rotors

How do i change the brake pads on a 2005 grand prix pontiac

remove the caliper, by removing the two holding bolts, then use a old brake pad against the pistons and a c clamp and push piston all the way in, next is to clean and lube pad mounting surface and the caliper slide pin, then install new pads on bracket then caliper and tighten caliper bolts, heres a diagram to help you,98c6b31.jpg150490f.jpg

You do not need to pull the axle nut loose the rotor will slide off wheel hub might need to tap it off if been on a long time.all that has to come off is the caliper
