Question about 1987 Pontiac Fiero

1 Answer

I've recently been having trouble with my 1987 Pontiac Fiero. It's the 4 cylinder Automatic. My problem is this: When I'm driving the motor stutters and feels like it's losing power I'm about to change the spark plugs to see if that solves the problem but I was hoping that if this does not solve the issue that someone here might be able to provide some more solutions to my issue. Thanks for any assistance you all can render I appreciate any feedback.

How do i use the diagnostic tool (tools) in my 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT?

Your Fiero uses the OBDI system. Do you have a OBDI scan tool? A OBDII scanner will not work on your car. It is possible to jump across the A and B terminals on the ALDL connector under the dash, using a metal paper clip as a jumper. The trouble codes would appear on the dash as a blinking check engine light. If you wish, I can get the website that has excellent instructions on readidng the flashes to determine the codes.

Do you know plug wire line up for a 1995 pontiac fiero 2.3

The Pontiac Fiero was made from 1984 to 1988
In the 84 thru 88 Fiero's they had the 2.5L In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 2.8L V6.
I have included both below

For the 2.5L In-Line 4-Cylinder:
Firing Order:
1 - 3 - 4 - 2
Cylinders:
.........(back)............
...1....2....3....4...
.........(front)
Distributor Connections:
..............2
...................(+)
....4
....................1
(+)
..........3

For the 2.8L V6:
Firing Order:
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6
Cylinders
.......(back).........
...1.....3.....5...
......................
...2.....4.....6...
........(front)
Distributor:
............2
......1.........3
(+)...............(+)
......6.........4

I have a 1987 pointiac Fiero. It has the 2.5L 4

It gives 3 quarts just as a starting point, it says this for the 4-cyl and 6-cyl, just so you don't overfill it. The distance between the two marks/notches on the dipstick represents 1-quart. If it's exactly on the low mark, then add 3/4 of a quart and see where it ends up, should be about 3/4 of the way to the other notch. Don't add quarts at a time, overfilling your oil can be just as bad or worse than if you underfill it. You'll be breaking oil seals all over....not good! :)

have fun

if you've added the oil and started the car and the oil level is at the add mark with the engine off, allowing a minute or so for the oil to drain back down to the oil pan, add 1 more quart
