Highlander 2005- VSC, ABS, park brake, tire pressure lights ON

Hi,
I’m planning to purchase a 2005 highlander, 3.3 l engine, 4WD with 116 km. When I first test drive it, the VSC, ABS, hand (parking) brake and tire pressure lights were ON. The dealer told me that this may be due to bad wire that feed current to a common sensor and he change this wire and everything was OK.
On my second test drive, when I started the engine, all the lights were gone. I drove the car 7-8 km and all these lights suddenly came ON again. I continue to drive with these lights ON and after 3-4 km, all the lights goes OFF.
Is there anyone who has experience the same problems before, do you think that it could be related to a mechanical parts or just loose contact or a faulty that creating this problems.

I will glad to have an answer from you, that will help me take my decision for buying this car.
Thank
Ajay

I just bought a 2005 Highlander and the tire pressure light was on while I was test driving it. I asked the salesman to have the tire pressure checked and then it was fine....Until about 4 weeks after I purchased the vehicle, then the light came on again. This time I took it to a tire store and was told that it was simply the air pressure. When I asked why it would have gone on again so soon after I had the air pressure checked he told me that the change in air pressure from hot (over 100 degree weather) to cool (55 degree weather) might have done it. I got back into the car and the light was still on. I read the owner's manual and was able to reset the button (it's located under the left side of the steering wheel under the dash board and is clearly marked). The light promptly went out and I haven't seen it again for awhile. I hope that helps answer at least part of your problem.

2006 Highlander - Check engine light and VSC light on. What does this mean?

you will need to hook up a scan tool, I know many parts stores will loan you one or let you use it in the parking lot, VSC could have something to do with a wheel mounted speed sensor, did you hit something? any noises, try this and see if it goes away
    • 1 Shut off the vehicle's engine and apply the parking brake to protect yourself while working on the vehicle.
    • 2 Open the vehicle's hood and examine the engine compartment. Locate the air filter box mounted to the left of the engine. The air filter box features a black exterior, square in shape, and a large ribbed intake hose.
    • 3 Check all of the small black vacuum lines surrounding the air filter box. Reconnect any disconnected or loose vacuum lines you find.
    • 4 Start the engine and drive the vehicle to clear the "VSC" warning light displayed on the dashboard. If the VSC light fails to go out after driving the vehicle normally, proceed to the next step.
    • 5 Park the vehicle, turn off the engine and set the parking brake. Open the vehicle's hood and disconnect the battery's negative cable for 15 seconds, using an appropriate size socket. Disconnecting the negative battery cable will reset the vehicle's computer and clear the "VSC" warning.

My check engine and vsc trac off lights are on what could be the problem it's a 2005 highlander/ lights were off when I had smog check done and I failed/ lights came on after I had the smog check done

you probly need new tires or check tire pressure and have align or balance, time for service for your engine, get your engine scan or change sparks plugs and pcv valve

The abs/vsc/trac and check engine lights stay on. could this be a problem associated with emission control?

Its possible.

Whenever the check engine light comes on the VSC and Traction control will disable because they need the engine at 100% in order to function correctly. Since the ABS light is on I would have to wonder if it isn't an abs problem. Since the VSC and Traction control use the ABS sensors/system to function.

Or there is a problem with both the engine and the ABS.

The only way to know for sure is to have the PCM scanned and the ABS module to see what is goind on.

What causes a toyota highlander VCS warning

When your VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) light comes on, it means your car has been forced to take evasive action to avoid a dangerous situation. For example, if you're driving on an icy or wet, slippery road, and take a turn too sharp or accelerate too quickly, the vehicle will automatically reduce acceleration or apply pressure to the brakes to prevent the car from losing control. In this situation the VSC indicator light will light up to alert you that the action was taken, and remind you to slow down - or to be extra careful. Be safe!

Look for a blown Brake Lamp fuse, or a faulty brake lamp switch, which is located above the brake pedal.
