Question about 2007 Ford E-350 Super Duty Length XLT

1 Answer

Ford 1995 F Super Duty manual, need pages for section 11-04B, which detail steering column removal to access and repair ignition switch at inside end of lock key cylinder [inside bottom interior end of the key lock cylinder where the two plastic parts are moved to engage the ignition switch to start the engine [7.3 diesel] and also to shut it off, engine starts but shut off of diesel does not work] The vehicle is equivalent to a F-450 15,000+GVW and is a 10ply 10-hole wheel, dually, ''six pack'', and the details of internal repair of switch, and even the steering column removal covered in big manual,[ 3500 pages] are missing -- the manual references section 11-04A and 11-04B but I am missing the 11-04B section of the Ford Manual completely. Any ideas? lsporter at viawest - dot net. I've got the multi-switch out [turn signals dimmer etc off, but need to get the whole steering column out to fix the switch . . .] thanks

Ignition switch would start but would not lock into position (RUN) and would shut off and then ignition completely locked down and will not move

The ignition key cylinder in a Buick unlocks the ignition and allows the Buick's engine to start. The cylinder contains a switch on the end of it (inside the cylinder) that sends an electric signal to the starter motor. When the ignition key cylinder fails, the Buick won't start. When this happens, you'll need a new ignition cylinder. Purchase replacement cylinders from Buick.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You'll Need:

  • Ignition key
  • Punch pin
  • Cross-point screwdriver
  1. 1 Remove the screws on the bottom of the steering column on your Buick. These screws hold the steering column cover on. You may need to tilt the steering wheel to its highest position to access these screws.
  2. 2 Turn the ignition key to the "II" position in the ignition cylinder.
  3. 3 Slide the punch pin into the access slot on the bottom of the ignition cylinder.
  4. 4 Push the pin all the way into the access slot while you pull the ignition cylinder out of the steering column.
  5. 5 Insert the new ignition cylinder into the steering column with the key in the "II" position on the cylinder.
  6. 6 Push the cylinder into the column until it "clicks," indicating that it is locked into the column.
  7. 7 Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position.

the actuator inside the sterring column that the lock cylinder turns is boken, this is a very complex job and is not for the home tech without a factory service manual.

2003 ford f250 super duty 7.3ltr I switch it from 4 wheel drive back to 2 wheel and it blows number 45 fuse. Also sometimes when i go from park to reverse it blows the same fuse.

Hi,
The wiring from your overdrive cancel (or tow/haul) switch is shorting in your steering column. Remove the plastic trim from around the steering column. From above the steering column look in the area where the gear shift meets the column. You will see a pair of wires (twisted) wrapped in a black tube. Examine these wires really closely and I am sure you will find an area where they have rubbed thru. Wrap a little electrical tape tightly around the area and you are good to go. To get the top plastic piece off of the column you may need to remove the ignition key cylinder. turn the key to the run position. Under the cylinder on the column is a small hole. Push a pick into the hole while you wiggle and pull outward on the key cylinder. The cylinder should pull out and allow you to remove the plastic trim. The cylinder must be in the run position when you reinstall it too.
I hope I was descriptive enough. I hope this helps you out!
