Fast idle control valve inside the throttle body. They get loose and back out causing a loping idle... If you are doing the repair, just tighten it back in and it will stop.

After sitting for a while the car the fuel will go bad. So try running a a can of gas stabilizer in the tank with a full tank of premium gas run the car for 20 minutes to see if it clears up. If it does your ok if not try lubing the throttle cable then if it still does it try changing the fuel filter as the MTBE'sand Liquid Oxygen they put in the fuel will plug the fuel filter after sitting a while. This also could be caused by a vacuum leak and you would have to use some carb cleaner to try to find it. If no vac. Leak then the most likely cause is a EGR valve is not closing all the way. That can be tested but try the other items first. Hope this helps.

has the alternator output been checked? Running voltage should be about 14.2 volts at idle-you can go to a autozone, advance auto, pep boys, napa, kragens, they all will check your alternator while running.
