94 GMC Jimmy, Spider Assy. Problem or not?

If egr valve is stuck open can cause raunchy smell from exhaust, hense high readings. usually this causes rough idle though.

i have a 1994 gmc jimmy 4.3l cpi. i could not pass the emission test.hard to start, spuddered, and smell of gas was strong. long story short, i replaced my spider injectors, good to go. $278 brand new from auto zone.

check all your hoses to the fuel pump.

Jimmys of this year had a bad problem with the fuel spider on vortec fuel injector hoses underneath the plenum. check your oil level to make sure that fuel isnt draining into oil sump and over filling it. this condition is very dangerous. 1 it can blow the top out of a piston or 2 catch on fire. that is where I would look first.

You have to determine a few things. Are you getting spark at the plugs? Are you getting fuel to the injectors? You can also read the engine codes to see what codes are stored in there.

Nothing wrong with the regulator. That is how it is supposed to work, it sounds normal.
I guess you will have to get to the spider to see what is wrong. Fuel delivery to the pot seems normal. Could be something to do with injector circuit, IDK. Sorry can't help more.

The pressure relief valve is in the spider fuel injector not the fuel pump. We have had our 94 gmc jimmy for 4 years & have had to replace the fuel injector 4 times which cost right at $500 each time for the part. Yes the spider fuel injector cost averages around $500.

A very common failure on these is the CPFI unit , or SPIDER as people like to call it.

There is one single injector which feeds each cylinder via a pipe and poppet. The injector becomes blocked and the engine won't start or run.

Before you go condemning this though, just make sure you have good fuel pressure because the fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump could also have a hand in the problem. Make sure the pump is running, and if not then check the fuse, the relay, and the pump itself.
